house selling - after survey

Hello.
I am selling my house to the very good buyers (fingers crossed).
The surveyor came last tuesday and spent about 2 hours in the house. He was upstairs and downstairs and gardens and everywhere. When he left, my husband asked how it was and he said there were minor issues which he needed to speak to the buyers. Since then I am panicked. I called the EA and they said if there was a serious problem with the house, they would call straight away after the survey done. It's been about 4 days. I know I am impatient.
I don't know what the surveyor meant minor issues. Is it really minor issues or something serious coming? I can't bear this pressure anymore. I know the flat roof needs replacement but so do the buyers. what else then?
Is the EA right to say that bad survey results (serious) would come out more quickly than normal?
I am desperate to move out for my children's schooling. I hope to find the school place before the school breaks up. It's just two weeks away.
Does anyone have any experience about this issue? Please help me.

Depending on the surveyor it will take between 4-10 working days before the report is issued to the buyers
As the buyers of your house are paying for the survey, the surveyor wouldn't discuss this with your husband
Any issue will be highlighted in the report and your buyers will either accept the report or start negotiating a new price depending on the issues found
We have just had a survey completed on an house and decided all the issues raised where general wear & tear. The only main issue was a fogged up conservatory window which we will fix when we move in

It's completely normal for surveyors to find minor imperfections in houses, so there may well be nothing to worry about at all, especially if you have already made the buyers aware of the problems you're aware of.
I've had children, and it's my experience that they stay as children a reasonable length of time; certainly long enough to move house and fit in a decent education for them. It seems to me that you may be panicking over nothing. That, rather than a few months in the 'wrong' school, may affect your kids much more in the long run.
Moving house is stressful and no one here can take that stress away. We can only tell you that your experience is normal.0 -

I know I am being impatient. still waiting for any news about the survey.
I think I will try to relax and wait.
I just wondered whether the surveyor would call directly if he found out any serious defect in the house as EA said.
I will try to forget and get on with life. This stresses me out so badly.

I think it's normal to wait a bit. Our surveyor actually sent us an e-mail summary the next day, but we had to wait nearly a week for the full report, and we didn't take any more steps until we had that.
In our case we actually had to have a structural engineer in after that - but in the end all was well, and we preceeded with our original offer price - just a bit slower than everybody had hoped!0 -
I am also waiting for buyers who are waiting for survey results. I feel your pain! Not knowing if they've had it and are considering their next step, or just still waiting, is pretty agonising. Still, not a lot you can do it about it and I'm trying not to worry until I know whether I have something to be worried about. IYSWIM.
It doesn't help that we had ours back 2 days later and they are still waiting for theirs 10 working days after it was done...What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -
He shouldn't have said anything to you, normally a surveyor wouldn't say anything to the vendors. I wouldn't worry at all, I don't think a house exists which wouldn't have a few minor issues, but they're usually the kind of things which you don't even notice unless you're a professional who knows what to look for.0

I've just heard from the purchaser and it's notthat bad.
EA said that main concern was the flat roof which I mentioned before. The purchaser is going to send his builder friend next week. We'll see if they try to negotiate the price down but I think the valuation comes as the agreed offer was. fingers crossed.
It's my first house and no experience of selling a house. I still feel very stupid. :rotfl:
I've tried to fill in the forms and made mistakes as usual so will need another copy from the solicitor.

never trust valuers or surveyers. they have as much personality as driver test people. they are paid to come up with faults; most minor which may run to 15 pages or so.
