Very well said.
There's a lot less stigma attached to bankruptcy than there used to be, thankfully.0 -
That's what she said Lyn, she said don't have a downer on yourself. She said hers was brought on by drugs but now she is a respectable, upstanding citizen with two girls who are a credit to her. She's right. I don't look down at her just because I know.So any scars though.
Byatt go you with your TV riddance! I can't wait till you can post that you have put your fire on. Oooooh envious of real fire Byatt. I'd watch a real fire crackle over the TV anyday... actually how is this for being sad? Last your on Sky Anytime there had a real fire crackling at Christmas time. I used to put it on of an evening and lap up those crackling noises. One day Byatt, one day. Oh! My mammy friend said that she can get a mortgage now so hope is never gone for a former Bankrupt. Ergh, I've worn myself out. So blimmin confusing. So up and down with emotions. There's no way I'm ready to knock back AD's. I have to go there at 7.15pm tonight. I wanna scream I don't want to! I wanna bath
Spag bol awaits. I don't want to do that either. I'm in a right pickle aren't I. Cuppa calls. Think I'll keep away from MSE tonight. I'm in one of those snapping moods and will only make someone feel bad, and myself feel even worse.
Check in with you all tomorrowx

I was talking to one of my mammy friends at the gates tonight, she is also a bankrupt. I admitted too. So all my mammy friends now know I'm a bankrupt and I feel blergh. I feel like I've lost my self respect all over again. I'm really worried that other mums over heard and I'm village gossip. I feel all churned up inside.MrsLurcherwalker wrote: »FUDDLE - You hold up your head as high as high, you have every right in the world to do so. Well said Mrs L - Fuddle you should be PROUD, not ashamed. It could happen to anyone - my inlaws escaped by the skin of their teeth and still haven't learned their lesson.
Still marking - but the floor got mopped.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Hey FUDDLE - Did you know you can get a DVD that is a log fire to play on your TV? A couple of years ago DD1 and I were snowed in in Berlin at Christmas time and we were feeling very anxious as we didn't know if we would get back in time for Christmas. It was snowy and cold and we were very tired and flicking through the TV channels in the hotel and there on screen we found a log fire, complete with crackly fire sounds. We watched and felt better and curiously much warmer! They have them on E*ay for not many pennies and it is so lovely to have that on screen in the evening when the lights are out. She had one in her flat but now she's got a real open fire to play with, might be a nice thing to cheer you all up as you haven't a working fireplace, Cheers Lyn xxx.0

I'd watch the fire over the TV any day too. Tonight will be the first lighting of the season here, it's chilly but not freezing but the house feels damp from all this rain, a good blast with the fire will sort it. Just got some wood and coal in ready. Beef stew with spicy dumplings for tea then jimjams on, light the fire and a spot of crocheting before bed.
Talking of bed, I changed mine is morning so it's even ore inviting with that clean fresh sheets feel. When I'm rich I'm going to pay someone to change my bed daily, I love it."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -

Yep lyn ive got a plasma fire cd, dam good the sounds are brilliant,:Dlike you say you dont need your tv on with crap progs, my cd as 13 different fire, the way they are laid, wood, coal, high and low flames, it was £2.99 ebay...........so comforting.....I do have a real fire and it will be lit in a couple weeks time, but I have got GCH so we are not cold.....
Byatt so sorry your fish will be leaving you, its a sad sign of the times...
Kidcat,Fuddle.......I thought that cameron said that in July 2011, a new rule as come out that when your children get to 18 yrs old and they can make you leave your council house for a small accomodation , to allow for other younger families needing the bigger houses.??. Its no longer a house for life........If I was in a social housing 3 bed house with just me , id feel very selfish "sitting it out" when families could benefit better at than me, its only right to move, plus those small little bungalows and flats are ideal for people on lower incomes...........
I spent 18 years in a 3 bed house council house with my children, but gave it up when they both left home......We bought this place when hubby and I was working 60 hours per week must be 9 year ago now..........
Got the heating on now as its a wee bit chilly, take care all of you with so many worries , keep chins up eh......:)0 -
The good sign, I guess, is that I can only bid for 2 and 3 bedroom properties for a family of 4. Are council's 'afraid' of this bedroom tax then? Are they now thinking 'we might not get our full quota here, oops'.Is that what the bedroom tax is designed for, to make people think about whether you need that space and try to 'force' (for want of a better word) people out so larger families can access more of the appropriate housing stock? It's difficult because I wouldn't like to see someone turfed out of their home because they couldn't afford it but.... that's what happens in life, you can't have what you can't afford. I couldn't afford to keep my home 3 years ago and I was turfed out.
It's awful how choice is taken away from us when finances are involved. Having said that, I have a very, very long wait ahead of me to get anywhere near social housing stock. Demand obviously far outweighs what is available.
Should I be more looked after as a private tenant, should the LL have more to answer to as a LL then I wouldn't need to look for council housing. The whole thing needs a radical shake up in my opinion. There's flaws and loopholes all over the place.
All of the above Fuddle and much more and it is very complicated and can not always been seen as black and white. I would say as PT you should be looked after and besides if your LL needs plenty of money when he retires he needs to keep his tennant happy so regular income comes in but also unless he plans to live it it needs to be in good order if/when it is sold..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. As this is aimed at me...I have not said that I won't downsize but smaller properties are scarce, are no cheaper and in horrible parts of town but I do look...may be forced to go anyhow...also if I have to pay what I gain in bus fares/taxi fares to get anywhere or the service is poor I may be no better off moving and be more isolated. Lots to take into account. Just have to see how things pan out.
I do try not to be too critical or judgemental though of others as situations can change so suddenly...and you have to live in the shoes of others..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

I will also be able to light my candles now, they are in the inglenook. I'm not safe with them anywhere else because I forget.
Currently listening to the radio on the lap top.
The tv for me is a habit, I used it when ex went as the house seemed so quiet, so this is a big thing for me. At least I have a focal point with the inglenook, and as I have potentially 2 new clients I should be able to afford the sweep sooner rather than later. There was rather a stark warning on local tv recently about not sweeping your chimney at least annually because of a chimney fire that gutted a thatched cottage.0
