Quick home haircutting Q for you lovely peeps - I've been zapping my boys' hairs for about a year now (saves so much at barbers) but DS1 always creates at the hair that sticks to his neck and gets down his back - he does have sensitive skin. (I do use a towel etc to minimise but he has thick hair) Was thinking of buying one of those haircutting capes that catch the hair and a brush to sweep hairs off but any OS ideas I could try before buying said wotsits?

I used to do our boys' hair too. I never bought a cape - used to have a special dress code for them at hairdressing time.... underpants! :D
Then sent them straight off upstairs for a shower afterwards

SQ have you got a nylon shopping bag? cut the handles off cut up the sides and make into a kind of poncho with head hole. Hairdressers capes are nylon so it should work. :)

    Afternoon everyone :)

fuddle I don't know what wool or needle size you are using, but 300 stitches is probably way too many for the neck. For example the cardi I'm knitting using DK wool, on size 4 1/2 mm needles, has 117 stitches for the width of the back. You need to add in stitches to increase the width after you have done the neck. As for knowing which stitch is which, a purl stitch makes a ball (like a pearl) and a knit stitch looks like a K.

I am having one of those days where I think about needing to do something and then forget about it for a while and realise that I haven't actually done it. So the washing went in the machine at 7.40am but I remembered to turn it on at 10am. I put the kettle on to make tea before 8am and realised I was thirsty after 9am. I have gotten more scatter brained as the day has gone on. I'm off to Book group at 2pm and have no idea what nonsense I'm going to come out with.
At least I've remembered to get turkey out of the freezer to make curry for dinner. Here's hoping I actually make it.

    Take care everyone xxx

MrsC :) I like it too!

I could live anywhere as long as my four walls were safe, calm and relaxing. I mean that for me, the stress of living with a stranger would be too much, I'd rather live in a flat alone than in house with a couple of strangers. If it's a goer for you pops I take my hat off to you because I couldn't do it. I guess if you want stay in a 3 bed house it might be all that you can do to keep it. Life would be so much easier for you with a one bedroom bungalow though. It really would. Is moving a definite no for you?

Im amazed that the council allows single people to live in a 3 bed house , when there is such a housing shortage..........

In our town that wouldnt be heard of, theres poor families out there in one bedroom with 3 children, id call that over crowding.......So why do 1 person need a big house......Plus the expense of running it.

But they are on the waiting list and theres nothing they can do, alot of families try to get private housing , and theres a lot of LL that dont want families.......

Plus surely a single person living in a 3 bed house dont use all the rooms, even if you turn the heating off in the rooms you dont use it doesnt do the house a lot of good with no heating and not being lived in.........Damp issues etc....

Then youve got the garden size, families need a decent size garden, being on your own surely you dont need it.?....Perhaps I see it differently , but no way would I be in a 3 bed social housing if I lived on my own , knowing that there are young families really could you all of my rooms..........Thats my opinion.......
My friend with 5 children live in a 2 bed house and has been on housing list 4 years, she is pulling her hair out at times with the stress.......

Nice day here today , but I do believe we are suppose to get a bit of rain nearer te time.........

Dam arthritis is playing me up badly , I will probaly end up back at the drs , cos im finding things a bit tough with my work load, thats why im on the pooter right now, and thats not normally un heard of during the day, sod the work for a while I need a rest.........

I think the country as gone mad, on the news today they say that 57% people say they will never own their own home, but these poor people are having to pay such high rents............How on earth can they save for a deposit.?.....

Agree shegar - and all the while the govt bangs on about the huge cost of benefits but never once mentions the huge fat rents these LL are pocketing! It's not the poor bloody tenants who are getting the money is it? But that's carefully swept under the rug :(

De-vinegaring the Delia recipe, heat it through then add a small amount of sugar or honey, let it simmer for a couple of mins then taste test and add more if needed!

raining very hard here and has been for quite a while, lots of solar activity for next few weeks so where I live is very wet also warm. Scots better get thermals organised for end of month, indian summer still on track but later in oct and only for a few days then wham bam happens up N but ok here

I woke up achy today, darn elctromagnetic activity and I bet there are lots with migraines and headaches. Easy day today and am trying to ignore the mess left by emptying boxes needed for flour, will do that on a nice day. Big red celery plant is dehydrating today and machine was overflowing, makes a lovely concentrated powder. I just add a tsp to a pan of mince and it lifts the flavour better than any enhancer. Yogurt on the go, almond milk is straining and mixed dried fruit soaking with a couple of slices of 2011 dehydrated orange and cinnamon stick

Am going to get in gear re planting garlic cloves on next fine day. I started winter onion sets in root trainers and they will be good to go out in a week, so the cycle goes on and I like the end of the season, I am ready to hibernate, well just a few more jobs first :)

re the slippy leather soles, try and get stick a soles. Thin rubber soles, easy to apply

Is that what the bedroom tax is designed for, to make people think about whether you need that space and try to 'force' (for want of a better word) people out so larger families can access more of the appropriate housing stock? It's difficult because I wouldn't like to see someone turfed out of their home because they couldn't afford it but.... that's what happens in life, you can't have what you can't afford. I couldn't afford to keep my home 3 years ago and I was turfed out.

It's awful how choice is taken away from us when finances are involved. Having said that, I have a very, very long wait ahead of me to get anywhere near social housing stock. Demand obviously far outweighs what is available.

Mar my LL has made no secret of the fact he's just keeping his house for his retirement. He is not wanting to be a LL he just wants his mortgage paid off so he can have £100+K for when he retires. He's legally doing the minimum. Should I be more looked after as a private tenant, should the LL have more to answer to as a LL then I wouldn't need to look for council housing. The whole thing needs a radical shake up in my opinion. There's flaws and loopholes all over the place.

    Rant alert!

Why oh why do I have to keep harassing these people! Paediatrician still has not sent out reports from last appointment - 3 months ago! - still waiting for physio, OT and SALT referrals for DS and ultrasound for both of them, wheelchair services (saw 3 weeks ago), who I waited 3 months for referral for have still not sorted out how much I can have as a voucher as they did not have anything on the list suitable for both kids. Have they no sense of urgency???? Have they not read the evidence based research stating that early intervention is hugely important???? Grrrrr

Sorry, rant over - feel better now!
