Fuddle if the damp patch is under the bay then it's most likely that the drip groove is blocked above where the damp patch is. So rather than water from the sill running under and falling away about 2" from the wall it's running down the wall.

    look at No.4 below
    http://www.diynetwork.com/how-to/how-to-replace-a-windowsill/index.html

it can be a groove or just a wide area. It can get blocked by paint over the years, or even dead snails huddling together. Clear it and the damp will dry out.
Or could be guttering over flowing and hitting that area or a join on a nearby down pipe thats no longer tight and water gushing out of a joint when it rains heavily........had that happen to me, took a while to work it out as it was from next door's down pipe!
    Worth having a quick look.

Well not keeping the house ventilated properly does not cause sodden patches on the outside of the house!

Thanks Maryb, Hester & Bobbykins. He is a chartered accountant, who has been on the practice side all his working life, but the further up you go the more business development is needed and that's what he has always hated, the shmoozing for new business. I'm sure something will come up, and I'll pass on your advice.

My sympathies, I'm a (thankfully) retired chartered accountant and I always HATED business development. I loved the technical and client care side of it. But unfortunately it's "eat what you kill" (I loathe that expression and all business buzzwords - at least I no longer have to talk about "competencies" ever again!!). But he can say he enjoys playing to his strengths in fostering relationships with clients for recurring business and maximising low cost winning of new business yada yada yada but wants to step back from the practice management side

  • Gosh stiltwalker I just had a quick search and there are plenty out there even on ebay but boy are they expensive. Should't they be giving you two vouchers for each single buggy?
    Good luck with the floods.

There are plenty - if your younger child has not got disabilities but DS has! Sadly no voucher for him as he is still of an age and size to be expected to be still in a normal pushchair and they'll only fund once they need specialised stuff.

Ok out into the floods I go.... if I don't return send out the search parties with diving gear!

Not whinge. :( I'm just sorry you're not coping. Oh Byatt. Things are just not fair. Hope you're ok. Stay with us hun ok. We can't help each other financially but just having us here is a big help ((((hugs me dear))))

I have submitted my application to the council. I wait a month until we here our banding. DH has called the LL to tell him that we're seeking to move. He's not happy. I worry as the council will write to him asking for a reference. I feel stuck between a rock and a hard place. I've looked after this shell of a house, made it into a home and now feel like a narked LL can make ny life difficult just because things don't go his way.
