Thanks Byatt. I'm feeling a bit nervous now. I'm going to log off in a couple of minutes and do some more interview prep, then have a bath. I managed to get a smart coat for £32 from BHS. It's absolutely useless as it has no hood and no pockets but it'll only come out for interviews and funerals so I guess it will have to do. It will last for at least another fifty years anyway :rotfl:!
Katieowl that's good news about your friend.
GQ glad you are not flooded.
Right, off to have some ryvita and jam (because I need something sweet to calm my nerves!) and a cup of decaffeinated tea. Ooh, I know how to live the high life!:rotfl:Aspire not to have more but to be more.

Hi all
I've got spuds too, I think they are second earlies, but I know the leaves have been munched. They a not quite dying back but aree drooping somewhat. Is it time to get them out? We only started our own spuds last year, and dh looked after them, he and DS dug them up but I think they were earlies, they did really quick, anyway.
How do I store them? There's only me and two little ones now so they won't get used up quick... They are the only things we've grown this year apart from some cress DS has grown last week on the kitchen windowsill...Bossymoo

Some breathing space katieowl. Here's hoping something turns up for her.
Good luck from me too for our interviewees tomorrow. Fingers crossed!
More spring chickens on the threadYey. Can I call myself a spring chicken at 32? Oh I dunno. Ellie, was it you who mentioned you were going to crochet a christmas blanket on the christmas thread? I might be mixed up. So many young'uns are crocheting, it's great.
I agree with all you say...

My last coat cost 99p and then they said it was a ladies coatI can't tell!
I'm pleased for GQ about the threat of flooding, still raining here. Had Mum still be alive she would have been saying the same as us...There probably has been similar weather in the past and Mum saw some harsh winters(snow wise)but this is exceptional.

Good luck smileyt
Am in a mild panic about my tatties, I have no idea when I planted them other than it was when we had really warm weather and we built the playhouse too!! All the talk of blight is worrying me I wouldnt have a clue what to do, and at the moment dont really have any time to deal with anything.
Have only skimmed todays posts, I find animal cruelty more than I can bear so have skipped some altogether, am so sorry for wimping out.
Have spent the day baking, its DS8 summer fayre, and I have my group with the whole cake debacle going on! Have made 40 iced buns, 2 fruit cakes and 2 coffee cakes. I plan on taking some to group and rest to fayre - just hoping the petrol money saga doesnt rear up:)
DS had a wonderful day at school again and proudly told me about his lessons - he is slowly returning to his old cheeky which is so good. Had major panic earlier when DD6 was playing out with her friends and we realised DS must have escaped behind her - all out searching when a neighbour came out and waved, she had taken him in when she saw him wandering and as DD was in playing with her kids she thought best to grab him while she could.
Kitchen looks like a war zone and is covered in icing sugar, OH is not amusedespecially as he on kitchen duties tomorrow!

Watching when I'm 65. My plan is to go into secondary school teaching. Is it feasible to expect to still be a secondary teacher when I hit 70+?
I have no pension as I don't work (SAHM) I don't understand it. Talk about education money wise at school. I am clueless about what happens when I retire, how I'm going to fund it etc.
I'm not going to worry about it but I would like to try to find some answers, or at least some strategies.0 -
