How many cuppa teas do you have in a day? I've had 5 today and probably another 3 before bed. That's excessive right? Does tea do any harm if we drink too much?
I usually have 4 or 5 with lots of water in between. Generations of Brits have lived on nothing but tea as their liquid intake so if it was terrible I think we'd know by now! But if you have trouble getting to sleep or staying asleep it might be best to cut down a bit, especially after 6 or 7 in the evening.
Bought a tin of paint today with the idea of sanding and painting an old chest of drawers to keep bedding and towels in instead of buying a new cupboard. Now I just have to find some oomph from somewhere. Can I buy that online?
Does anyone else feel whacked after being in company? I've just been to a meeting, which was interesting, and I love some of the people there as we take the mickey out of each other, but I've come home and I feel as if I could sleep for hours. This happens most of the time when I've been with a group of people, no matter how much I enjoy the activity we might be doing. I seem to need extortionate amounts of down time. People think I'm incredibly bouncy and sociable and funny but it takes a lot out of me as in reality I am an introvert and refuel by having peace and quiet.
Right, off to have another cup of tea and look for my ooomph! :rotfl:

PAH, could any of your parcels be free stuff you've sent off for? I've just been down to the post office to get a parcel (I said, 'i hope it's here, the card didn't say where it is!') & it turned out to be a free cereal bowl I'd sent for.
Busy morning at work with my volunteer hat on, so I won't get paid for it... Now dashed to PO to post a million letters for work, sorting office to get parcel, to sewing shop for denim needles, purple thread & tape for aprons for presents, knitting shop for finding that its closed on mondays, launderette for DS1's duvet which doesn't look that clean :-(.
Stressful phone calls & texts about work. Feel sick about work. Haven't had a drink or lunch yet, waiting for bus home, will get DS1 to have cup of tea ready.0 -
Fuddle - I must drink 50 cups a day
I once asked my doc if this was awful and she said as long as you DONT take sugar, which I don't, you're doing wonders for your kidneys keeping them clean and well flushed!

I drink 5-6 cups a day plus a couple of 500ml bottles of water and got told by the urinary consultant I was drinking far to much and cut down in June, according to her 1 litre is more than enough, I don't know what planet she lives on. So GP could not say anything I cut down to said litre and my migraines have come back and I was always dying of thirst plus kidney pains so tried and back on drinking my tea and water as I want it, if it means living forever in tena lady so be it. Admit bladder didn't bother me much but what came out was almost black and very little of it, most likely why feeling so tired again. Why do some specialist because they cannot find out what is causing a problem, spout rubbish. She did say other cause could be neurological, be going to see her again in December and will make sure I tell her in detail what cutting down did to me.
Well stayed nice and dry so far so hands started hurting while knitting:mad: just left one luckily, so as a bit of my get up and go came for a visit got outside and put together Chimnea and finished making paper logs from the paper I had soaking, so have 20 drying now ( 10 made today) now back resting again but hoping to go out again and remove all tomato plants all blighted ever last one:mad: Once done then can plant the potatoes in pots out there. Its gone very heavy out there and dull.
If get up and go returns Kidcat hopefully will go tunnelling in study to start trying to find the survey work for your DS1 plus need to find Nella Lasts first book, its in here somewhere(bedroom) its getting as bad as study with books.
Am listening to the Nella Last book from just after the war, downloaded it from private library.
Phoned Royal Mail again after 3pm as they said and of course they cannot do anything as sorting office closed at 1pm, so been told to call again tomorrow morning and if I get told leave it till after 3pm point out how pointless that is. The Manager of local sorting office has still not replied to to main office at all. They have no idea where the special delivery item is at all, last record is it went out for delivery last Wednesday, never mind ordinary parcels. Still don't know who sent it as wasn't Ghillie kettle, seller has got back to me, they were away camping and they just sent it first class mail.
Nothing free among them as not asked for any freebies for quite a while so all paid for.
Will wait till I speak to Royal Mail tomorrow and if no joy then will have to tell ebay and Amazon that items not received, hate doing that to the sellers as not their fault but I cannot afford to have to pay twice for the items.
Just listening to Nella Last saying how she is worrying about the young couples who cannot afford to have children as they cannot find decent homes to bring children up in and even worse so many unable to find jobs. History does indeed repeat itself but at least when she wrote about that the country was just starting to get over a major war, she would be shocked for things to be the same now 66 years later.
Right better go and see what I can throw together for dinner. Oh I know might try that pink salmon in fish cakes.
Hugs and Love to all xxxNeed to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

Think Mar meant 'don't' take sugar Fuddle! Heinous crime in my book, sugar in tea! When I was a kid I used to have heaps - I remember spooning it out of the bottom of the cup. At some point in my early teens I decided it was grown up to not take sugar and stopped it - now I could no more drink a cup of tea with sugar in it than fly.Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0

Monty Don lost his greenhouse toms to blight - just a couple of days after saying it was highly unlikely as they were in a greenhouse so there you go - even the experts can get it wrong!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0

Haribo it is weird isn't it? Always been the same though - if it's dry here we bring our raincoats shopping at yours, and if it's raining here we know it will be fine up the road. My garden has been dreadful this year - the worst ever actually.
Smiley i'm like that - folks always think i'm outgoing but it really takes it out of me, especially a full day at work.
Reading through your book suggestions to see if anyone has spotted anything I haven't read - must have a look through my book collection to see what OS books I have.

Exactly the same here MrsC It doesn't take long to wean yourself of the sugar tasting tea either as DH has cut down from 1 spoon to nothing. It took him two days to enjoy a cup and hasn't looked back now.
I never drank tea in my 20's, always water but when I stopped working my tea consumption is rocketting. I think it's a symbol of aaaaaah it's break time
:rotfl: Darn it, you all know how many breaks I've had today now0 -
Hi all, this is my first post, although I've been reading the forum for a few years! Not sure why I have just hung around in the background till now, probably because I know I'll never leave! Anyway, I have just purchased a second hand sewing machine, and I am waiting for it to be serviced. I like the idea of making my own things such as draught excluders and door curtains ready for winter, but I'm just wondering, after the cost of the fabric, and bits, and bobs, will it really work out cheaper? or would ebay be my best bet?
Thank you!0 -

Welcome to the thread from lurkdom!!!
Charity shops can be a good source of fabric too...lots of material in a pair of curtains, or sheets (make good linings) and quite often people throw fabric stashes out when they think they'll never get around to using them. If you can find something you like it's cheaper, and much greener!
