Lucky you fuddle! So far this morning I have scrubbed the stove glass with a brush and cleaned the floor on my hands and knees too... Maybe I need to move with the times. :rotfl:

Oh you do! I have industrial oven cleaner, you squirt it on a hot oven and watch the grease slide off :D I can't knock my washing machine or mop and bucket either ;)

There's OS and there's giving myself backache when I don't have to. ;)

:D It's the woodburning stove I've been cleaning and I don't like using harsh products on the glass. My floor just doesn't seem to get clean with a mop so I will remain a scrubber. :D:p
Won't give up the washer yet though. I have a mangle in the kitchen but it's purely for decorative purposes only. ;)
  • Pooky I hope you find your get up and go, mine wandered off years ago never to be seen again sigh

Well still no redelivery, called Royal Mail and was told I have to give it till 3pm as redelivery should be brought out in a van up till then.

Checked what has and hasn't arrived, apart from Mars soaps, Ghillie Kettle, daylight light bulbs, Maya Fire sticks, Seeds and more Water Purification tablets are all now over due as should have been here by Friday. I did try contacting Ghillie Kettle seller on Friday, bought from ebay to ask if they sent it by special delivery but they have not replied so emailed them again and if by 3pm it has not been delivered and they have not contacted me will have no option but to raise a missing order query with ebay, never had to do this ever before.

The other things I have now emailed via Am@zon to the sellers to ask if they have been dispatched, even though had dispatch notices for everything. The Maya Fire Sticks are from the company I bought Dutch oven from but sadly didn't order till next day surely they wouldn't send Dutch Oven but not the cheap firesticks.

So more products than parcels that I know of missing.

How long does disputes over non receiving of items take with ebay?

There is no way I can afford another £65 to buy a Ghillie Kettle elsewhere. Am just hoping the seller is off out camping somewhere and so not seen my email rather than they are ignoring me.

Sorry moaning about this, when people are struggling to pay bills and me going on about luxury items, but wouldn't be buying them if son had not given me the money for my birthday.

Sunny and warm again today so hoping to be able to get out of this bed soon and plant out potatoes.

Its typical though I start knitting hat for youngest DGD and it goes warm, at least doing something useful while sitting here. Nearly 8 months since hands let me knit, its so enjoyable and I miss it when I cannot do so.

Hugs and Love to all xxx

PAH, pop down to the fleabay forum, and ask what to do...I'm very foggy this morning, so can't give clear advice but I have to say, I've had 3 items not received from fleabay. I've contaced sellers, 2 responded and said check with sorting office, and then I put in a claim for all 3 using paypal, but not sure which is better now, ask on the forum, whether to go through PP or fleabay. Or do a search, plenty of threads on the matter. Two items were resent and the third one hwo didn't reply, I had fleabay rule in my favour and refund. It's about 10 days or so for disputes I think.

Not particularly cheap (therefore not OS) but Fairy Power spray in the green bottle is ACE for getting soot off the glass door of my woodburner. Brilliant on the oven too...leave it for ten mins and no scrubbing. I was converted when we were cleaning holiday cottages last year - brilliant stuff!

    Morning All

Feeling nearly human, but had to be up early to take cat to vets for 9, could have slept for ages :(.

I do our wood burner glass with vinegar and scrunched up newspaper. I make a pad of paper and sprinkle with vinegar and dip into the wood ash, making a wettish paste. A good scrub over, perhaps doing it twice if stubborn, and the glass is clear. when we are using the stove I do it as part of the lighting and it's much easier. I keep a little bottle of vinegar in the fire box with the firelighters :)

Gravadlax, I don use any fancy kit, I sprinkle the brine onto cling film and put the fish on skin side down, more brine on top then put on the top fillet. Wrap well, then again with more Cling film, and stick into a deep dish. I weigh down with a tray with tins on top. The brine tends to seep out of the film so does the same as the tray with holes.

I got a 5kg bag of red onions for 2.50 at the wholesalers - anyone got any good recipes for chutneys or jams to use them up?

Bit of a lurker here but reading Mrs Chips post about cleaning the woodburner. We use damp kitchen roll dipped in the ashes and cleans the class perfectly every time. Wonder if any one has any hints on how to reblacken the stove - ours in 4 years and starting to look a bit tired.

I used http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2010/aug/03/caramelised-red-onion-chutney-recipe but can't tell you if it's good or not as I haven't dipped in to mine yet.

Been out with the girls and pup and managed to pick enough blackberries for bb flackjack. It will be good for packed lunches.

Kitchen all clean, just waiting for the sun to go down so I can wash windows. Any OS tips for washing windows? I guess vinegar and newspaper like the woodburner glass?

Time for a perusal of my library sock knitting book and a cuppa. ;)

Hi Bobs! I used something called 'Stove black' which we get from our lovely old-fashioned hardware shop. I think the local coal merchants sells it as well, but can't find the tin for the name! It's like shoe cream, but for stoves :rotfl:

ETA: This is similar, but I did not pay that much!
