Gailey have a look here for the ham
http://www.hamstercentral.com/community/
they are usually very good.
Vets charge indefinate amounts, although I believe if you have one in your local p@ts @ home store they do fixed price stuff so maybe worth a call.
Smiley - thank you, am past being angry now, have taken the new painkillers and they do appear to make it bearable without the nausea and wooziness.
Am going to go for the tests and insist on seeing a proper doctor when the results are back, odds are that the bloods will come back with anaemia so a doctor will call me to go in and I am going to press for MRI and whatever else I can.
Mum and dad have said that if need be they will pay for me to be seen privately and get treatment options even if they have to take a loan out - which I am not prepared to do, however I can claim some costs for tests back through OH health scheme at work so will be looking into whether it would cover that sort of thing.
Dad is also saying I should apply now for DLA, arguing that it would cover me having to pay for help around the house when OH is working, but am not so keen on the idea as it feels like I would be saying this is going to be forever.
Lisa that sounds a really cool idea and something I may steal for one day after Christmas.
I saw the chimney things in Mr T last week for £15 and was tempted but walked away but if we did something like that I would definitely buy one.0 -
I'm feeling rather proud of myself - I've never grown potatoes before, so I put a couple of desiree (maincrop) in this year, just in half a bag of compost each, as an experiment. The other day I thought I'd have a look at one of the bags, and got rather carried away and dug that bag out - result: a large bowlful of lovely small desiree potatoes!
I have used them to make a slow cooker full of corned beef hash and just had a portion with some broadband beans (had to pinch that, credit to the person who posted it first!) and I am feeling really smug now - absolutely delish.
I shall definitely be growing a few potatoes next year, I think earlies rather than maincrop though. Maybe earlies AND maincropI believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Gailey - I agree with D&DD
I'll third that x
I've come to another decision. I have some old bricks down the side of the house and could easily salvage some more with all the skips around at the moment. I can use one of my oven racks lined with foil and build my own temporary firepit. I have some old fence panels and can salvage pallets for burning.
I'm really pleased with the amount of shopping I got for my money today, although I can see how much all the pulses have gone up since I last bought them. The lentils were still 1.99 for 2kg, but all the beans and chickpeas have gone up between 30 and 50p for 500g. I bought enough to see me and the girls through for, probably, the next 6 months or more, lots of different varieties. I don't even bother giving them to DH any more he moans about it that much ( I do still hide lentils and oats in his food though;))
Even though no one in this house drinks tea, I'm really tempted to go out and buy a box, just so I can say I've got some:rotfl:
The only thing I should have to buy extra of this month is fresh fruit and veg and squash which i forgot to get today. I think I have enough pet food, milk and bread, carbs and stuff. In fact, if I save the squash for the girls and go back to just water for me, then I wont even need to buy that!
okie doke, off to set my needles clicking again. I finished the ribbing on the first mitt last night (I'm not the worls speediest knitter) I hope to finish the first one and start the second tonight.
offering hugs to all xxxfreecycler and skip diver extraordinnaire:cool:0
