We have had a Strange Day at work. Really really weird stuff coming into the call centre. Just checked on HH's blog for the fab lunar thingy (which I adore) and it isn't either new or full moon so there's no accounting for it that way. Are they putting something in the watter?

I noticed an increase in odd behaviour around Bank Holidays when I was in a call centre. Especially during the late afternoons.

    Luckily, I escaped.

Possession Jessie is here, safe and sound. She's been sat in our porch with a letter from the water company for company but now tucked up in bed with little DD. :) Thanks very much x

Well we're home from our jolly holidays :) Tired but I have some news... I have just applied for a job! It's only a dinner nanny's post but I'm hoping that I can get it. :) Wish me luck!

She's loved alright... she's wrapped in toilet roll 'because she needs a blanket' Deary me, kids lol

I'm still planning on child minding but this post is just temporary for a year. I'm hoping if I can get it then it will bridge the gap until I can child mind.

I was also thinking about setting my own cleaning business up. I just don't know how that would go especially as I don't own a car any more.

Tomorrow I'm going to scour the up your income pages on here. I've tried Avon and The Body Shop parties. I am just not a very good seller!

Aw bless. Reminds me of a halloween party a few years ago when DH was the mummy and covered head to toe in value toilet roll....

I think it's a good idea to bridge the gap. Re. cleaning, can I confess here that up to 2 and a bit years ago we had a cleaner. Her name was Frances, she was a retired lady and we were actually her only client in the end. She stopped because of health reasons and it coincided with DH being made redundant. She was the third cleaner we'd had (and by far the best) but it isn't easy to find a good cleaner who doesn't cost the earth through an agency. There will always be people willing to pay a cleaner I think - DH worked at least 80 hours a week, often more, often over weekends (in fact I worked out in the first year of DS's life he worked 32 weekends - plus in the week of course) and I work too and had 2 relatively small children so housework was down the bottom of a long list. For us, our time together was very precious and it was worth it not to spend it cleaning. We paid her £9 an hour I think, which was cash in hand. I see friends on Facebook sometimes asking for recommendations for a cleaner - it is something that can snowball by word of mouth. You'd just have to turn down clients you couldn't get to. I don't think Frances had any insurance and TBH we just kind of trusted each other, but you might want to look into that aspect.

girls have very long hair that tries to turn into dreadlocks overnight.

Put their hair into a plait or plaits at night, it stops it tangling up and that reduces breakage when you comb it out and it grows thicker and looks healthier. My DD has fine hip length hair and she wears it plaited at night, for school, sports, swimming and all the rest. It saves a lot of time and tears.

Fuddle - there are times I would happily pay for a cleaner, like now for instance, to me it would be worth paying someone to do a couple of hours while I am incapacitated. I know other carers in similar situations, that would not necessarily want the ties of an agency but would pay someone on occassion when times are particularly difficult. So I think that setting up as an independant would be a good idea.

I have a friend In London who cleans for a few clients and also does some contract work. Getting to a client can be a problem and costly but if done as Kidcat suggests and if carefully chosen, it could be a way to go...i seem to remember my Mum doing some work like this when I was very, very young. Too late to ask now if it was done informally or on a formal footing...

Chances are she probably replied to a postcard in a shop window. Are times different these days? Probably...

I'm 1 of 3 girls, we all had long hair & mum always kept it plaited, & it rarely got tangled. I had my hair bobbed when I was going on a week long school trip in my last year at primary school.
