I think my children would love to grow mini cucumbers. Off to investigate!

Look what I found on ebay looking for cucumber seeds:

I've lived in Asia and travelled all over and while they're big on ornamental cabbages (or flabbages as we used to call them) I've never seen these little *ahem* beauties.
Has anyone bought seeds from Thailand or HK? They seem to be much cheaper.

Possession I grow Rocky,Cucino and Picolino if thats any help if you hit the seed places at the right time you can get the seeds really cheap ;)
They are a bit of a faff at first but so worth it and once they get going they can be left to their own devices.

Perfect for kids cos they grow like triffids overnight lol no chance of them getting bored!

Love the look of the german potato salad on that site thanks we just dug up some more Anya's last night yum!!

I'll look at those thanks. Ideally I'd like to grow things that can be sown directly into the ground, and that don't need full sun as my back garden doesn't get that much, so I have to do some research before next year. Also things that can get by without me touching them to lessen the chance of instant death!

I've lived in Germany and shopped at both Aldi and Lidl. Lidl wasn't particularly 'bargain basement' back then, (70s/80s/early90s) but Aldi certainly was, although the chain worldwide has upped its game since those times (I last went in a German Aldi in Dec 1992).
BTW Pops, my daughter Trudi works in the B.A. Aldi, which is the one you use, I presume? She's been there some 6 years now, started at the store when it used to be in the bus station. I miss it being there, though my son takes me through when an Aldi shop is needed. But like you, I can't wait for ours to open. It really is taking shape now!

Do you think our's is small so the B.A. is better? I tried the Spennymoor one(and the ASDA there)but my auntie happened to go into the B.A. branches of both these stores with me in tow and they seemed better, more choice! Still seem to be suggesting November for the opening though:(

Then again when money is tight, though the addition of Aldi's will be welcome, my shop will be reduced and I'll have to go careful...:)

They may surprise us and open early...

BoultDJ - I am not sure what kind they are but they have been fruiting fairly prolifically since June so I would guess they are the summer kind.

Sound's right for the summer one's, just cut off any branch's that have fruited this year 'cause the new branch's will have next year's fruit on them.hth
