Oh cake am so sorry I was going to post earlier and messed the post up as I was on my phone but I did mean to send you hugs, enjoy your time together, we lost a cat last year and I am so glad we knew before hand as we were able to really spend time with her and show her how much we loved her. I still miss her now.
Grandma - the problem you have is that your issue is not really with the energy supplier, its a LL problem. I seem to remember that your BIL as well as being disabled is also older, so Age concern may be able to assist you too. Its a minefield and the LL is right it can cost £1000 to install, however its part of the price for doing business as it were, as it gas checks and fixing the roof. If the front door needed replacing she would have to do it and this is really no different in that its necessary.
Each council has a dept who deal with issues around private LL and these are probably the ones to call, if you can get OFGEM and/or the energy company to put pressure on the LL as well, it may well help.
Good luck0 -
Forgot to say - I met a friend today who has a Downs son. He is about 30 now and has recently moved into a supported flat to learn to live independently. While he was living at home his mother saved whatever benefit he had and supported him herself because she was anxious to make sure that he had some money behind him if anything happened to her. She said that other families in her position were going on fantastic holidays and spending their allowance. Now, he, through her, is being sued because his savings have exceeded the allowed £6,000. She has MS and is very frail (in body but not in spirit) and is distraught because she thought she was doing the right thing. As she said, if she had bought him a diamond ring or taken him on a world cruise that would have been fine. It's mad, unless I am missing something here.I believe that friends are quiet angels

I finally managed it at age 57 and it was so worth the wait. I hope you manage it a bit quicker!'Yaze whit yeh hive an ye'll niver wahnt'

Thank you for the kind words ... Catto seems better today, but is getting so skinny I don't think it will be long. He has spent most of the day on my lap, purring: the long goodbye. xx0

Evening all!
Ended up taking darling Bruno to the vet's. My poor boy was panting and whining in distress because his tummy was so sore. Anyway, he is much better now and has been given antibiotics, and I am £40 poorer financially but much richer for peace of mind, and he is sleeping peacefully here next to me on the sofa

I went to a really interesting talk this afternoon on disability awareness, given by a woman who only had one arm. She had a prosthetic arm which was amazing as she could unscrew the hand and screw on various attachments like a knife, fork and potato peeler! She even had a special 'heavy' arm which had a screw-on hammer and such like for when she wanted to do DIY. It was sad to hear all the bullying and abuse she has had to put up with throughout her life, though, and the thoughtless and often downright nasty comments strangers make to her. Apparently some people assume she gets a free car because she is disabled, even though there is absolutely nothing wrong with her legs, and in fact she works so pays for her car herself. She said many non-disabled people assume disabled people get everything for free - which, as we know on here, is definitely not the case.
Right, I'm off to bed since I only had five hours sleep last night and I need more than that .... I love my bed .... my snuggly duvet .... you know you're getting old when going to bed early (to sleep!) is an attractive prospect .... :rotfl:
Smiley:- Pleased to hear Bruno is feeling better,It does concentrate your mind when loved pets are poorly! Great to hear about how your Lady copes with her various 'arms.' I'm not surprised at the thoughtless comments though.:(
Monnogram:- Your friends story made me speechless, so angry. It just shows you how stupid and senseless this system is!
Cake:-:grouphug::-Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0 -
:hello: morning all.
Made it safely back from Yorkshire. The Police were very kind, all things considered. Never did find the famed Tea Terraces which I'd gone especially to visit, though.
I shall now disappear back to the 9th to catch up where I left off.....................I may be gone for some time.:rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
