I wish I had the nerve, or the savings for that matter to play the share game. I would love to play a free simulated game, just to see how I would get on. I predict badly lol
Well that is my toast and boden catalogues requested. They are full of my style but not my prices so my plan is to find what I like, find a pattern whether sewing or knitting, and make it myself. Apart from underwear, I am not buying a clothing item at all this Autumn or Winter.
Thank you for mentioning parboiling the potatoes. Pretty angry at the demonstration I saw on a shopping channel of potatoes done in 20 minutes, coming out of halogen (don't like the name Jamaica) all fluffy. Obviously par boiled without mentioning. That's naughty.0 -
Removed most and put on my blog as belongs on there than here
Fuddle, one thing shines out from this........your daughters did not run out in to the street, they stayed in the garden.....focus on that, they were sensible, didn't see the gate being untied as an excuse to go exploring......so think how well you have taught them.
I know this might seem a minor thing but sometimes when you get so angry and upset focusing on something small but positive helps you regain calm again.
I to would have been out there screaming to high heaven. I am like you barely say boo to a goose until something gets my goat( love using animals to picture things as you can see, daft eh) then as my sons partner will tell you all the demons of hell are like cuddly kittens compared to me(the reason she found out this is a story for another day).......anyone with one brain cell would realise the gate is tied up to keep the girls safe.....but what chugger has a brain cell, sorry not met one yet that has, and if anyone here has been one sorry, maybe I have just been unlucky.
You have done NOTHING I repeat NOTHING wrong, you are allowed to make a cuppa, go to bathroom etc while watching children, its not a crime and it does not make you a bad mum at all
Your tablets are not making you relax so much you are putting your children in danger its the just you are relaxing enough to do what most mums do let their children have a bit of space away from them, seemingly unsupervised but actually being supervised from a distance.
You are a wonderful mum go and give those beautiful daughters of yours a big hug and all snuggle together in the back garden (if its as nice as here) with a nice game and relax.......
Bet tonight when Mr Fuddle comes home they will be full of the story of how mummy shouted in the street - they will be full of wonder at that

If it's goat willow, it will make wreaths really nicely if you use the whippy thin bits. Teach the girls to peel the bark off (it's easy) and you will have lovely white willow to work with. It will shrink a little bit as it dries.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Thank you pah. It is hard to get the balance right. My mam kept us in doors day in and day out. It was her way of keeping us safe. What resulted was me growing up in a box, never experiencing anything and being afraid of everything. I am so determined to not mother like that but it's so hard because the worry inside is so, well debilitating at times.
I have no idea what willow it is other than it doesn't grow catkins. LL planted it and keeps some keeping under control. They don't fancy it so I'm going to have a go myself in the next few days.
I'll remember that MrsL, old fools... nope, it's gone. I'll look back on your post and look up the stuff to wrap round home made wreathes. I see another project coming on :rotfl:0 -
That's me - Old Fools applies very aptly - never mind, enjoy your wreath making, Cheers Lyn xxx.0

Morning all - just
I watched the programme on fasting too, very interesting. I decided to give it a go and am doing the two days fast and then normal food for 5 days. Yesterday I had just black tea and water until the evening when it was a 400 calorie meal of chicken breast and veg with fresh fruit for pud....I could actually tell when I was full (which is a new experience for me). I didn't really feel hungry at all, the odd pang but I'd stick the kettle on, get my crochet out or go find something to do until it passed. Woken up this morning with no hunger at all, the dark circles under my eyes have disappeared and I'm raring to go! This is something that will work for me and knowing it can decrease the risk of 7 cancers (according to the programme and what I've read) and cholesterol etc then it's got to be worth a go.
I'm also hoping it will help me realise my portion sizes when I'm back to eating normally and of course help the bank balance a bit.
Well, without realising it, I have been kind of doing this without realising Pooky and as said a few people used to say on my blog "Eat" and got quite "Nasty" about it!
But as long as you are doing it with a clear and untroubled mind so you don't become(I've forgotten the word where you give up on eating altogether)and actually still enjoy your food it should be fine. I don't suffer hunger pangs and as you say if you stop thinking about eating and do something, even better.
You can eat well even on a fasting day, you can eat a meal that's slight larger but lower on calories. Cereal and fruit is an easy one...or a yoghurt followed by scrambled eggs and toast. That way you have a couple of courses.
I did think about the restriction of calories and signed up for an online calcuator to help me do so but then saw what the presenter was doing 2/5 days and thought I can do that. I probably could manage the alternate days too but his plan is not as drastic.
As you said and I did not think about it at the time, it will save money too which when income reduces could be handy too.
I do have my bloods taken every three months at the hospital
so they'll spot if things are improved or not and I can ask. I am supposed to eat smaller portions of protein anyhow as too much(mainly meat)can damage/shorten your kidneys life(whether you know they are damaged or not)so eating a varied diet with plenty of fruit/veg/fish/chicken is probably a good thing anyhow...
Discovered one of my theatre tickets was for an earlier performance(and the theatre has managed to exchange it for a better one at the later performance:D
I got to thinking it is quite possible on the later performance they may do an extra encore whereas on the earlier show they probably will finish early to get us out and the second audience in so the first show might not be as long...It used to happen on the summer season shows when we were on holiday..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. I worry about hubby who gets sort of tetchy if his food is late, a bit like going hypo. You would have to be careful about losing concentration if looking after children or driving. It seemed such a good idea but not as easy as it seems!!
MiL's ancient barometer showed 'warm and dry' this morning so I took the spare room curtains down to wash, now its gone all cold and gloomy.
The truth is I love food! So it is now a worry that with income reducing soon I suspect eating well on much less but I did prove that I could these past few months since losing Mum and thanks to you all on here I now understand more about portioning food, getting more meals from what I have, batch cooking, freezing food etc...
If I do that perhaps I don't always have to cut out some of the more expensive items if I make them go further or combine them with slightly cheaper items..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Fuddle everyone has said what I would and said it better I suspect.
And yes good that you have let your children back outside.
Just as you worried about the children getting out, the chuggers could have easily opened the gate and let your puppy out, they should realise a gate is tied up for a reason...
They are the stupid one's...
And yes you are allowed to make a cup of tea without feeling guilty. If that is a problem...call them in for a few minutes, if they want something they could have it at the same time as you...then go out again...at least the rain is holding off..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Does anyone know how much a fridge/freezer costs to run? I have my one (the model from my own house) in the garage and is on. I use it to store my milk, bread, some meat that I can't fit in the LL's freezer in the kitchen.
If it's using a fair bit of electricity then I think I will turn it off as anything I am saving buying milk cheaper and freezing it will probably be eaten up in electricity.
I'll clean out the freezer in the kitchen tomorrow and assess the room I have. I don't buy half as much frozen stuff now so really is just for portioned meat, hmmm chunky chickens, and frozen veg.
Two very filthy kiddies to bath. T'ra0
