so far so good. Didn't smoke yesterday and don't even fancy one today (keep thinking I already saved about 8 quid in two days), cycled in today and left my wallet at home.
Have a nice day

Quick de-lurk to say well done - I stopped smoking almost 20 years ago - the incredible truth is that if you've done a day, the worst of the withdrawal is over.
The worst pangs are half an hour after nicotine, and some say that if you have done that, you've cracked it. I think 24 hours does it... along with the real determination to leave the associated habits behind forever.
You'll still think about it a lot, for a while, I would guess... I remember the first day I realised I hadn't even thought about it, and I knew then I had won forever!
Good for you, good for you... and for your pocket! Don't think deprivation, think freedom (and untold riches!)I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Thank you, I hope you're right. At the moment I feel great and proud a s Larry, but for me the real test comes on weekends or when I have a drink. But I keep this post in mind as motivation. I stopped during pregnancy and started again after which was stupid, but I felt like I wasn't allowed anything during that time now it's over and I want a fag, selfish I know. But now also with the help from here I won't fail again....

Thanks for the info on Don Aslett and I'll have a browse on Amazon.I read one of his books thirty years ago (but I'm still not tidy;)) Sure DH will be grateful if it gives me more ideas :rotfl:he still groans aloud when an AF delivery arrives but is beginning to realise just how much we save by doing this as well as going to Lidl or Aldi.
Apart from replacing loo and basin , we are having existing bath and shower taken out, space bath was in will make a practically level access large walk in shower with a built in solid tiled seat and shelf. We are thinking of having glass bricks instead of normal shower glass screen so it will be solid, simple and safe.
Well done stiltwalker :T
Popping out later to look for YS stuff and inspiration for tonight's meal. If DH is not in then might do sausage and mash as it is youngest's favourite comfort food and it is a really grey day.

Wonderful, you have taken the first step to becoming smoke free. Just think of that day and how you will not smoke, never mind the future, it will soon come.

Very well done Stiltwalker, you've worked hard and are reaping the rewards!
PAH: Another one here with HA troubles, you have my sympathies! We have many of the same problems as you. Mould is painted over and they say the problem is solved....until it comes back. We have rickety hard wood doors that we were told were being replaced but then they ran out of money and that was forgotton. Our tatty kitchen is circa early 70s, my parents bought the same one when they moved in together, HA swear blind that it was replaced in early 2000s but obviously that isn't the case. Bits are falling off left right and centre, so they come out and glue them back on. The latest one today is that our boiler is on the brink, no hot water without switching central heating on as well, we were told it isn't a priority to be fixed. We can barely afford to heat the house when it is cold, let alone in July! Dunno when that will get done, I must admit I flipped and sent the complaints department a rather stinging email. The HA were given a large amount of money to bring the stock up to a decent standard but we haven't seen any of it, they spend a lot of money on flowers for various places.
I can honestly say that the only people who say they want council houses are the same people who have never been in one. I would dearly love to move but alas the financial situation isn't good at the moment. If it was my house, I have a couple of friends who could look at the heating for beer money and would save up to replace the doors/kitchen myself. As it stands, I can't make any alterations, even if it would be beneficial to us and them.0 -
:j:T:) I am going to have my first GRAND GOGGIE!!!!
We are hopefully meeting the rescue people, and picking him up at a half way point on Saturday eve. They said because we got out dogs from another one of their branches (and DD had originally spoken to the people that we rescued from in Kent - and seen recent photos) that they were sure that DD would be a most suitable forever home!!! I'm really excited - had you guessed :j
