I wish to complain to the Financial services ombudsman about my car insurance company and how they have dealt with my claim.

I'm not sure how to fill in the form.

The section where you are supposed to give details of the complaint. How much should I write? How much detail do I give. I could sum it up i a few sentence but yet again i could write pages on what has happened.

What information should I gave them? Is it worth forwarding them a copy of everything I have sent my insurance company already?

Any help? thanks in advance

  • the more information you provide the better they can assist you and decide if they need to intervien or simply refure you back to the company.

most of the time they need you to exhaust all avenues with the companies complaints proceedure first, then provide them with a letter from the insurance company to say you are both in deadlock and a resolution and comunication isnt feasable, known as a final response statement form the insurance company.

if you have not followed the terms and conditions of the complaints proceedure the ombudsman will tell you to go back and follow the route again and then come back if no resolution has been made.
