Integrated appliance doors

What is the difference between an integrated appliance door and a normal cupboard door? Obviously I know that you put an integrated appliance door on where you have an integrated washing machine for instance, but how does it actually differ from a 'normal' door in the same range? I have replaced 2 cupboards on a run of 4 on one wall and would now like to replace the other 2. Of the 2 I have already replaced, one has a drawer and a base unit so I bought a door and drawer front pack. The other one is under the sink so has a 'false' drawer and a door front. I now want to replace the washing machine and dishwasher doors but don't understand why you need special doors. The ones I have presently also have false drawer fronts but the replacements wouldn't, they would just be a full height door.

nothing is the difference
if its standard doors you will just require a 715 x 595/6 or what ever your door width your range is.
you can do the dummy drawer front if wanted also - but theres no difference than a standard door0 -

Then why do they sell doors specifically for integrated appliances? What is the difference between the 2 doors in the link, apart from the price of course?

They do that to get more money out of you......
its very wrong!!
i design and supply kitchens and have fitted a few.
I would just supply a normal 600 door for an appliance.
if you read the spec its 100% the same0 -

I think when I was getting the work done in the kitchen we were deciding which doors to change. I was replacing beech doors and couldn't get a match so got black doors as a contrast. My builder said we couldn't use the new door on the washing machine but I didn't understand why. He's doing another job for me tomorrow so will ask him again. I would also like to replace the dishwasher door but that's more of a pain and I may be replacing the dishwasher soon anyway as it's broke and not sure if it's worth repairing. It's about 8 years old and may just get a new one.3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -
i dont understand why either, unless the doors are different heights?
but for a washing machine you just drill the hinge holes, normally have instructions saying where but doubt youll have these if old.
if the door is the same height and width, or even a mm out in width you can still use the removed door as a template taking in to account the width differences0 -

The doors are the same heights. I thought it was just me being 'blonde' but I will ask him again tomorrow. Do you think having 2 alternate doors with drawer/drawer fronts intesrpersed with 2 full height doors will look OK, rather than having all with door and drawer fronts.? I think I've seen them like that on display and they looked fine, a false drawer just seems pointless to me and I don't see the point in having a handle on the side of the dishwasher door when you only use the handle on the top. Or would you need a drawer front on the dishwasher in order to have a handle on the top?3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -
if you replace your d/washer - there is instructions on how to fit the 570 door with a dummy drawer front - fitting it this way you can still have the handle at the top of the d/washer.
it would look fine having a full height door either side of the sink base.
but thats down to you to decide0 -

Yes, thinking about it it would be better to have a drawer front and have a handle at the top as well as on the side. I have had problems in the past when handles have worked loose and at least if the top handle comes off I can use the side handle. I'll probably go for door and drawer fronts on both of the replacements as one on its own might look a bit odd. Was thinking of doing away with the drawer fronts as I don't really like things that look like something they're not but it would be more practical.3 stone down, 3 more to go0
