Building a sandpit - Help please

Having looked at the crazy costs for wooden sandpits (which are essentially pretty basic) I've decided to build one.
I've built a couple of raised beds in the garden, so imagine it will be a pretty similar task, I've used scaffold boards for one, as well as just some rough sawn gravel board type stuff for the other.
Not sure what wood to use for the sandpit, it will need to be smooth I suppose so my daughter doesn't catch herself on it, but I need it to be built by next Saturday.
I always feel pretty uncomfortable at the local woodyard, the guys there are nice, but they ask me questions and I have no idea what they're talking about.
What should I be looking for? also any other helpful advice would be gratefully appreciated - Mrs Sancho is in charge of creating a cover to stop it being used as a toilet and planning on putting some weed control type stuff down at the bottom to allow for drainage
Thanks in advance

How about the outer frame made from decking boards, line it with weed control fabric and fill with sand...all available from B & Q so no need to sweat it out at the local yard0
