Hi there, I've just this morning been told I need a full hysterectomy due to menorrhagia. I was just trying to find out if there is a short term disability payment from the social fund to help us along until I go back to work at all. OP, couldn't child tax credits help out in your case at all? x

You have my total sympathy! My OH has had two bowel resections :( and it is a big op, nevermind the hysterectomy as well.

Are you sure that nursery is the best option for every day? How about looking for a childminder who can pick up from you and drop the children back home again at the end of the day? Or how about a babysitter who can come and look after the children in your own house, so you can supervise but not have to run around yourself. I wonder if the nursery might be able to recommend someone who could help out for a few weeks.

Thank you.....luckily though im no stranger to operations as this will be my 17th, just hoping it puts an end to things :-)

I know what you mean about nursery but my girls are 3.5 years old, they already attend this pre-school so am just hoping that by keeping as much normality as possible they wont be too fazed by Mummy not being around and able to play with them. My friend has to let her Nanny, who we know & is fab, go in September as they no longer have the need for her. The timeframe is perfect & i would snap her up to help us out but our problem is paying for it! Still clearing the debts we accumulated when my hubby was out of work :(

I wonder is it worth an advert in newsletters at your local churches?
You might find a volunteer to assist you?

I understand what you are saying, but I'm worried that you are getting the priorities wrong. Number one priority is obviously that the girls are safe, fed and loved, and I'm sure that you will be doing all of those things.

But after that, the next priority has to be you and your health, and if that means that the girls can't go to the nursery because you can't get them there, then that's the way it is - you and your husband have to do the best that you can in the difficult circumstances that you find yourselves.

    Good luck with everything!
