Ok, let me try try and get this right you bought items on a buy now pay later deal, yes? Then after the buy now pay later deal expired you wanted to pay the total off with the three payments type offer, yes? Well if I understand that correctly you are unfortunately mistaken they are two very different deals. The buy now pay later deal will give you 'X' amount of months before you have to start to pay back, BUT if you don't pay it back prior to the end of the deal interest is added to your total and this is calculated from when you bought the item NOT from when you start to make payments, so the interest can be huge on an expensive item with a 12 mth grace period. The other offer requires you to buy the item and in the proceding three months make three even payments to clear the balance, as far as I know you can't have both deals on the same transaction.
Also to geministar2008 would you rather of them sent you the item then charged you for going over your limit? The way I have read your post is YOU miscalculated your order and it took you slightly over your limit. Then probably from your good behaviour for previous account conduct they decided to allow you to have your order, then not to charge you a penalty for going over your agreed limit but instead give you a little breathing space! They seemed to be damned if they do and damned if they don't, some people are very hard to please!!!PS you don't have to spend upto your new limit!

o sorry hehe i thought it was run like a littlewoods catalouge , whoops apolagies:rotfl:

Bankhater, I'm sure you don't get paid commission on a Littlewoods account either.

I think you may be a bit confused, It is not like a Avon catalogue.

also anyone reading this have you noticed how they sneakily increase your credit..... i ordered something and didnt realise it would take me just over my credit limit, then realised and thought the order wouldnt come, it did and when it did i was shocked to learn that they had obviously allowed the order and increased my credit limit somewhat higher than the amount that would have taken me slightly over. Not the first time this has happened to me with them either...... just all seems a bit suspect!

Every time you buy an item every calendar month from Littlewoods, Your limit tends to be increased by £300.

This has been my experience with them.

I dont think any of the catologue companies pay a Commission anymore unless you have been with them a long time where it was a agency when you joined them, pretty sure my sister still gets a commission from one of them but she's been with them for many years, new customers don't.

As for Very, after Argos parent company took over Index from littlewoods they changed the name of the company and the way the take 3 and BNPL worked (around a year after takeover I think it was) you did actually used to be able to do BNPL and then pay balance off over the 3 months when they were index, but as I say home shopping group(think thats the parent name) changed this and to be frank made it a less attractive deal and more punitive if you don't pay within the balance due date.

My Mrs still uses them but we always make sure BNPL is paid off by due date by continually paying even if nothing due that month which usually means a more managebale amount when balance due.

Gemin byi the amount of interest you are paying you may be better putting it on a lowere rate interest CC if you have one or even a small loan from your bank or credit union if you are in one

    Just noticed this from Gemini

"I have my statements online and havent really been checking them as much over the last few months and thought that my account balance was increasing some what"

Gemini if you keeping your very account I would switch back to paper statements, it's usually a bit easier to pick up a piece of paper telling you when due dates are etc. than sometimes getting around to logging on and checking your account.

I had moved my credit cards to paperless, i'm now moving back to getting them delivered as there was to many times I was forgetting/getting mixed up with dates and not getting around to logging on to check, and on several occassions getting charged interest when the money was available to pay the balances, I like to clear amounts at end of the month but sometimes this is not possible hence I keep DD's at min amount payments.

I would like to add i'm not blaming the CC companies for me messing up, but I do wonder how much extra interest payments the CC companies etc. are recieving since they started persuading people to go paperless in the name of the enviorment?

The BNPL is great IF you pay it off before the end of the BNPL period.

The BNPL confused me, but I managed to get out without paying interest.

Basically I was putting money in my account each money, thinking they would just take the full amount at the end of BNPL.

But it doesn't work like, you need to tell them, I did this by phone to take the full BNPL payment.

This is made clear on the statement.

A thread I made when my BNPL was due

It has changed now. There is an option to pay off of "bnpl" items and you can pick which ones you want to pay. Has been there for over a year.

It also tells you what will happen via letter in your statement, just before the bnpl ends
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

That's better, haven't used my account for at least a year.

Might take a look next time I need something, occasionally the prices are comparable to other shops, when they have special offers.
