Ebay feedback

Just after a bit of help.

I received an item that was not fit for purpose and as such i left constructive negative feedback. Did not slate the seller just stuck to the facts.

The seller has emailed me to see if i will accept a refund so he can resolve the issue and have the feedback removed.

I have replied to him to say the feedback wasn't left lightly but i did feel other buyers needed to know, to which he agreed.

Now i have noticed even though the situation isn't resolved yet the feedback has been removed.

My question is do ebay just do this as standard without contacting me or anything else?

So you let the feedback stand, and eBay seem to have removed it anyway.

The seller may have complained about it - quite underhand :( but I don't think you have any right of recourse. Could you possibly say exactly what you put? Are you still in the process of returning the item? Did you send it back tracked?

Sorry, twenty questions I know, but making sure we have all the facts.

The seller did complain. I didn't have chance to do anything as i was only just about to reply to the seller as he had emailed and asked me to remove it.
I have contacted ebay live chat and they advised that the seller appealed and advised me to open a significantly not as described claim against him.

As i have said to them that is pointless, my feedback was honest and constructive, in the sellers email he even said my comments were honest. It is pointless being able to leave feedback for them to remove it, now lads of people may buy these items from him to find like me they are useless.

So annoyed, but like you say there is nothing i can do.

Apparently there are certain wordings you are not allowed to have in feedback, including mention of a dispute.

I totally agree with you. Prowla, since the OP has not opened a dispute, I doubt it was removed because of that.

My feedback said "exceptionally small sizes, couldn't get my feet in, gone in the bin,,,sad "

That was it, so not sure how it fits ebay criteria to remove it.

You said they were "not fit for purpose", then it turns out they just did not fit. I assume the seller just sells them - not makes them.

Did you ask to return them before hitting the seller with a neg? If not - then it sounds like Ebay finally using some common sense.

I know from buying dance shoes that kids sizes come up small but most sellers will state in listings when items are on the small side. If I received footwear where the sizing was wrong I would have returned the item and advised the seller the sizes are incorrect and recommend they revise their listings. Some errors are made by sellers when converting international sizes.

Considering ebay don't like removing feedback I'm not sure why your feedback was removed but I would not have have left a neg in these circumstances. Sometimes it can take several sales before sellers become aware of a problem and a seller should always be given the chance to resolve a problem before a neg is left for them. If it's a business seller then they have to accept returns and refund the full initial payment.

No it's not a case of they just did not fit - i would not leave a neg feedback for something that didn't fit. They were faulty and did not even fit a child let alone fit an adult, to which he acknowledged when i first emailed him, but didn't do anything about it.

Sellers are responsible to their buyers for something poorly manufactured anyway - it's up to them to go to their suppliers and complain.

Otherwise anyone could sell any old rubbish and get out of refunding.

It makes me wonder how many other unsuspecting people have done the same as me and he has had the feedback removed..

He said in his email that he "wanted to resolve the issue in order to get the feedback removed" but didn't actually allow any time or chance for this to happen because he had obviously already contacted ebay.
He must have known they were faulty, you could tell just by looking at them .
