Mis-Sold PPI on my mortgage

Options
I am tearing my hair out. In 2005, I re-mortgaged and was advised by the broker that I had to take out an 'Accident, Sickness and Unemployment' plan before it could go through. I have paid an average of £70 a month for this ever since. I have e mails referring to this as such as late as November 2011. When I had to give up work in February 2012 due to ill health, I was advised by Aviva that I have only ever been covered for compulsory redundancy which means I have a £600 monthly mortgage payment which is not covered. I have 2 kids, one who is autistic and I am getting really worried about covering the mortgage. Do I have any recourse anywhere?

You are affectively complaining that you were not sold an insurance policy. That is very hard to get success on. However, do you have any other insurances? Typically unemployment only cover is used when someone has good sickness benefits already through their employer or via a different insurance policy (such as PHI; a form of income protection).

Do you have a copy of the statement of demands and needs issued at the time explaining the reasons why the product was chosen?
