MOT Certificate - HELP!!!
Options
It never rains but it pours..........
On Wednesday my car failed it's MOT, it was booked in for the required work to be done today at a cost of over £300:eek:. I always use the same garage as they are very good and resonably priced. The work was done today and a new MOT certificate issued:j.
However..........
I have just noticed that on the MOT certificate they have recorded the milage incorrectly, not slightly but by 20,000 miles:eek:. I have been in touch with them straight away but was a little shocked at what they have said.
He said to call in tomorrow and take the MOT cert, so they can take some details but he said "I don't know if we can go into the system to change it". To which I said well something will need to be done as I only do about 4000 miles a year, so next year it is going to look as though I have been tampering with the milage. Also what if I want to sell the car what then???
Does anybody know what can be done about this? Is it just a question of them changing it?
Incidentally the MOT refusal from Wednesday does have the correct milage recorded on it. So from Wednesday aftoon to this afternoon I have done 20000 miles.

I'm a tester. Yes this can be changed no problem!
It does happen to be fair only takes the phone to ring and suddenly a a wrong number is typed etc.
If VOSA didn't have the facility to change it their would be thousands of certificates wrong it happens all the time but normally its corrected before customer collects it.

If the discrepancy is noticed within 24 hours I believe the MOT station can correct / issue a new certificate, after that I think you have to get in touch with vosa directYou may click thanks if you found my advice useful0

Thanks for the info guys, that makes me feel a bit easier and I know where to go when I turn up in the morning at the garage.
I have to admit I was really worried when I saw it, I will report back what happens tomorrow.
Thanks again for the help.0 -
A place whose name begins with 'K' did this with a car of mine. I noticed before I left the office and they replaced the certificate straight away with one showing the correct mileage. Easily done, easily rectified.0

Just to finish this one off.........
I returned to the garage on Saturday morning and they managed to go into the computer and replace the MOT with the correct milage and issued a new certificate with the correct mileage on it.
Feel much better knowing it doesn't show as having done the extra 20000 miles in 24 hours:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -

Well, that makes your emissions test a piece of cake. Rev it, no smoke, pass :beer:0
