Guys,
I have made a claim against WF for PPI on a couple of fully paid personal loans from a number of years back.
They acknowledged my complaint and I heard nothing since. Their acknowledgement states it can take upto 8 weeks to process a claim. After 9 weeks I have chased them to be told I have been sent an acceptance offer of 2.5k - strange how this never arrived, so they said they would re send it. A week later, still nothing so I chase again.
Today I am told that all of their claims are on hold over a dispute with HMRC over a tax part (mentioned 8%) of any payment and whether or not the tax should be taken out before WF pay out, or the claimant should declare that tax as extra income once received????? He said he had no idea how long this dispute could last.
It all sounds very fishy to me. Firstly, I never receive the 2 supposed claim forms (lost in the post they say), now this story.
Has anyone else heard of this?

Can't you just accept the £2.5k they say they have already offered you?
You will be responsible for paying HMRC the applicable tax on any interest paid - that'll be the 8% accrued since the date the payments were made0 -
That's the problem - They say I need to sign an acceptance form and send it back, but the acceptance letters have twice failed to arrive. Now they say they can't send another until they sort this HMRC issue out....0

I'd send this to FOS to sort out..0

I too have been fobbed off with the HMRC excuse, but after a quick call today to wfsl they have told me that the dispute with hmrc is over and they will be deducting the interest at source i.e: taking the basic rate of tax (2o%) from the 8% interest.
Good news it seems , but it will take a week or so for them to send out the revised acceptance letters ( maybe this is another delaying tactic lol).
We can only wait and see.0 -

If you lack documentation of your own with regard this loan, you need to write a Subject Access Request (SAR) letter which should provide all information the lender holds on you for at least the last six years and (sometimes) more. It costs £10 and they have 40 days to respond.
