Surveyors-the same as all the rest!!!!

So have now just had back damp and timber report.
Surveyor on building survey estimated £2k for new damp proof etc etc
Damp proof company couldnt find anything!
Building surveyor said beetle infestation damp proof people said they didnt find anything!
Homebuyers said there was tructural movement in outbuilding, building surveyor didnt find anything!!!
Final straw one surveyor said insurance reinstatment value £189k another £129k!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As far as I know this is a standard maths calculation!!!!!!
The list goes on!
How are you meant to know what is and what isnt an issue! These people are all the same Are they any decent tradesmen, so called professionals, estate agents or solicitors anywhere!!??!?!

We lost our buyer because he wanted us to drop £8,000 due to things listed by the surveyor on the homebuyers report. Had tradesmen round and to do the 3 biggies it would have been £320!!! These surveyors have to justify the huge fees they charge IMHO so pick at everything - even the obvious such as we had a steep staircase. Yes it is but i managed it at 9 months plus pregnant my DDs have managed it and so did the potential purchaser when he looked round.
TBH we had a bit of a wide-boy offer on ours and he was basically looking for any excuse to drop us down - as he kept saying to our EA "I want a bargain", needless to say she advised him to keep looking!
We now have other buyers (who offered £1,500 more than we had accepted previously) so now wait with baited breath to see the outcome of this.
The annoying thing is we had a homebuyers done when we purchased the property 3 years ago and 90% of the things this latest surveyor listed were not mentioned on our report and nothing has changed???
Like you I am frustrated, confussed and basically feeling ripped off!0 -

Thank god its not just me!
On one hand its going to be helpful as we may be able to negotiate.
But who knows what happens when we sell it in a coupleof months!
We're going to do it up and then move on hopefully but they could not value it as much as we'd hope will they see a problem we've fixed and spent hard cash on or will they highlight all the same!
