Cursor problem

Options
I have a microsoft optical mouse and the cursor has started to jump suddenly down the page by a dozen or so lines (whether I am using the mouse at the time or not) I cannot find any reason for this and it is driving me mad! Help someone please?

Comments

  • Unplug the mouse, blow the connector to get rid of any dust, and re-plug.

    Might fix it.

not using your mouse on a lumpy surface? i had a desk that had some wood grain on it and played havac with the optical beam making it jump all over the place.
Ever stop to think and forget to start again?
  • It's a cordless mouse and I'm using it on a mouse mat - smooth as a billiard table -. The cursor also jumps down when I'm typing and not touching the mouse, but only if I'm editing (say) and there is text to jump down to. When simply typing it has nowhere to go.
