Being Harrassed by The Money Shop since getting a new SIM
I took out a brand new SIM only contract with Orange a couple of months ago. Within days of using my new number, I was receiving calls from The Money Shop saying I owed them money. I have never used the The Money Shop or any company like it. I have explained over and over again that they are clearly after someone else and this is a new number. Each time they say they will put a note on the file and stop calling - yet call again a day later and so on.
Today I received a call from CRS Debt Collection Agency saying they had been appointed by The Money Shop to get the money I owed. Once again, I explained the situation and was called a liar and hung up on.
I then emailed the Money Shop (as they don't seem to have a Head Office number) explaining the situation and saying if they called again I would be taking legal action against them because they were harassing me (dont know if that could be done but it sounded good).
I then received a text from CRS saying I needed to call them. I called them and this time spoke to someone who actually listened to me rather than calling me a liar. I (yet again) explained the situation and gave him the reference - the debt is in the name of Michael Fletcher - I am a female - its clearly not me. The guy at CRS then agreed to remove my mobile number from the file.
Do you think this will be the end of it? What else can I do to get them to leave me alone!
I find it amazing that this Michael Fletcher has taken a loan with them and simply changed his number - then the next person to get that number gets all the abuse meant for him!

Yeah, we have already spoken to Orange and they won't change the number unless we pay them £12. I dont see why we should have to pay seeing as they have sold us a number with bad debt linked to it!0 -
Hopefully your last call to The Money Shop has done the job, but, if not, I'd suggest writing to Orange and insisting your number is changed, and free of charge. You'd think they have a responsibility of their own not to allow you to be subjected to such hassle via a service provided by them.“In any moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing at all.” - Roosevelt0

If you tell orange you are receiving nuisance/malicious phones calls, they should change the number for you. They normally charge for a number change but they will do it free on the first occasion for anyone receiving nuisance calls.
If whoever you speak to still won't do it, escalate to a manager because this is a normal procedure and is done all the time. They should so be doing it anyway seeing they gave you the number!0
