Opening pics on PC

Every time I open a picture on my PC it asks me what to open it with!!!I select the programme,ask it to remember,but it does not,now asks me EVERY time,how do i stop it from asking me,and just open the picture????Many thanks.

What version of Windows are you using?

Been a while since I used anything but 7 but I know you can go into control panel and check file associations under Default Programs. If you are in Vista or 7 hit your start button and type default into the search box. Above you should see default programs appear, open this and then choose associate a file type or protocol.

Do you know if it is just one type of picture extension, .jpg for example? If so just find that in the list and try changing it. Highlight whichever ones you need and press change program. Once the box appears choose the one you want to use and then close it all down and see if it has worked. If not open up the default programs window again and see if it has reset to what it was before.

EDIT: If that doesn't work it could be an issue in the registry so I would advise downloading a file extension fix application. Download the one that corresponds to the file type you are having problems with. Used them in the past when .exe extensions went wrong and they work well.
