So we are ready to exchange from our end (we are selling house and renting) and the buyer seems to be dragging heels. We HAVE to complete next week or we lose our flat and £650. But yesterday the buyers solicitor has said the searches arent back (i was told they applied for them on the 6th March) and now she wants an abestos survey done!!!! The house is victorian and was converted into flats in 2002 so pretty sure there wont be anything untoward but this could really delay process so feeling totally sick!
Any advice???

I doubt there is much else you can do if the searches aren't back, plus if she wants an asbestos survey
When we were selling, I know the searches for our property took about a month to get back. The local council was very slow.
Why would you lose the flat if you buying? I assume it's part of the chain?0 -
we are renting but have paid the last two weeks of March rent to secure flat - if we dont complete next week we will have to pay mortgage and rent for a month!!!! Feel sick.
My solicitor is saying that searches are only taking 4 days at the moment!0 -
Wow, your searches are super fast, its about 6-7weeks where we are!0

If you are selling your house and renting, can you not afford to pay rent and mortgage for one month? You should have a contingency plan in place for dealing with those sorts of expenses! If it's just a cash flow problem, I'm sure that you could borrow some money temporarily until the money from your sale came through.Errors of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it. - Jefferson0

Hi,
My advice would be to decline them an asbestos survey.
The last thing you need is a survey saying that it will cost £10,000.00+ to remove asbestos on your propery.....it would seriously hamper your chance to sell.0
