I had my bag stolen yesterday in it was my brand new galaxy and my old iphone. I have mobile insurance with my lloyds tsb account.
when I rang yesterday to put in a claim, I was quite shocked to be told after excess of £100 iphone 32gb and £50 galaxy s3 they can replace it with a refurbished phone! I thought if I pay insurance then surely I should get a new phone especially after pay so much excess!
Does anyone know what my rights are in this matter please?

Unfortunately, they definitely state refurbished phone in the policy wording - and the excess increased a few years ago for iPhones so there's nothing you can do.
You could always ask them if you can upgrade to a new phone if you pay the extra cost?0 -
i feel for you , but surley you no these insurance policies for such things are just scams , dont get burnt again ,0

Do you have cover on your home insurance? Its more likely to be 'new for old'.0 -

If you pay for a policy that promises new for old cover, then you get a new one.
If not, you don't.
That's your rights.bankhater_1965 wrote: »i feel for you , but surley you no these insurance policies for such things are just scams , dont get burnt again ,
Regardless, it's not beyond the wit of the average iPhone user to accidentally drop their phone just as the new iPhoneTouchuUp model comes out ... so finding an insurer offering new for old would be something of an achievement.0 -

Probably less of a scam than the policies sold by the mobile phone companies themselves.

I am claiming for my Galaxy on my lloyds tsb insurance and my iphone from my home insurance, I didn't realise that my glasses were also in my bag till this morning so I have to claim for those aswell.
My insurance is with sainsburys and they have been very helpful and also told me I can claim for my bag & my purse and the money in there which I had never thought of claiming for! 1st claim I've made in the 17 years I have been with them!
I like to thank all of you that took the time to post!:jHOW MUCH ?0 -

Cancel the claim with Lloyds TSB and claim everything through Sainsburys, otherwise you'll be paying two excesses.0
