help needed-yorkshire bank ppi claim

hi, just wondering if anyone can offer any advice on what to do next . i sent a letter to my bank to claim back my ppi from loans ive had in the past.i received a letter asking for four weeks, 3 weeks later i received the same letter asking for a further four weeks and now today ive received this-

''do to the time elapsed:we are unable to investigate any loans you have held with this bank. If you are in possession of your original loan agreements can you arrange to send these to the above address in order that we can review and investigate your complaint further.''

the problem i have is i do not have any of my original loan agreements anymore, the loans date back to 1998/1999 up until about 2006 ish. we moved house in 2007 and i burnt all the loan documentation as everything was all paid up.

can anyone advise me on what i should do next? (if there is anythign i can do)

thank you

If you don't have any evidence of PPI mis-selling, and the bank don't have any evidence of mis-selling PPI to you, then there's not a lot you can do other than get on with your life.

You opted to burn the books. Hmmm... someone else in history was known to have attempted that too, and he didn't come out of it smelling of roses either.

is the actual loan agreements the only evidence they will use? what about bank statements showing loan amounts paid into my account? can they not track it from this?

Maybe. Why not collect together what evidence you think you have, supply a copy of this to the bank, and see what they say?

Do let us know how you get on :)

It is, but they need proof that this was paid, they need to see what PPI was on there and statements showing the monthly payment, they need this as you could have cancelled the PPI and not actually paid this.

Can you get to a branch? if you can then go in and ask them to look for you, they may not find you but it is worth a try, people on this site have walked into banks and have all details the bank hold, some from quite a few years ago too.
    It is worth a try.
