TZ8 old? It was only released 2 years ago! Now my Voigtlander Vito B, that's old.... I've got a TZ3 as well that looks good for at least another 10 years.

Seriously, if you want a new gadget, get one that's significantly better than what you've already got, such as a large-sensor model.

I guess it depends if you want the sort of zoom the compact camera offers, or consider the higher image quality of a compact system camera. The compact system cameras have a larger sensor than the compacts (maybe about 9x the size), but smaller than DSLRs.
Argos are selling the Olympus EPL1 new for£200, and good quality used Panasonic G10/GF1/GF2/GF3 are around the same price £160-250
They have a zoom up to about 84mm (35mm equiv), and you can buy other lenses.
Time to read a few reviews to decide what features you want.

I've just bought a TZ8 after lots of research (including a thread on here!) into various makes and models.

One point which seems to be common on the reviews for the most recent compacts e.g. TZ18/20, is that the extra MP are gained at the expense of image quality.
