Any you want providing you have a amplifier capable of driving them.
Or you could get active ones like these

Cheaper models are available.
if you are going for a 5.1 system then it depends on your room. if you have limited space something like the Old KEF "eggs" are good and go for around £40 per speaker on ebay. And if you want uniform on all 5.
Floorstanders as the surrounds shift more air than compacts if your room can fit them in.
A good make centre is just as important.
Subs are pretty common on Ebay and you can go save here by not going for a flagship sub. Just make sure it has enugh Ommpfff to fill your room.
The rears should be your last concern. They are more for placing effects than anything else.
as for speaker wire any genuine QED , Chord Company or Ecosse cable will be fine for the front 3 . you can usually find something for your budget.
For the rears any more than £1 a meter is waste IMO.
Decent Banana plugs or spades terminals will keep things tidy and prevent shorts which can permanently damage speakers and amps.Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
How much can you/do you want to spend?
Do you want Stereo, 5.1 or somewhere inbetween?
How big a room do you want to fill?
Do you have ANY other audio equipment to start with?0 -

I want 5.1 yes but would need an amp. If there is a good 2.1 then I would opt for that. I have no other sound system, i have dvd player as stated and a Aquos TV. The room is a baisc living room but a knock through so around 26 feet long by 12 feet wide. Prcing, well nothing more that 200 quid I would think. cant afford owt more expensive. All the big powers they've silenced me.
