When to send invoices?

I am a bit new to selling on eBay - last night I sold 7 items and so far have had 4 payments and they are on their merry way

I therefore have 3 outstanding, when do people start sending invoices? As a buyer I personally find it slightly irritating to receive an invoice before I have even had a chance to pay - but obviously as a seller I don't want to leave it too long.

Thanks

Personally I'd send it straight away if they haven't paid, but keep in mind that if the auction ended at night time, a lot of people may not get access to personal internet until the following evening if they're at work. Wouldn't wait any longer than 24 hours.

Whenever I buy anything I automatically receive an eBay invoice and even when I have already collected something I get subsequent reminders to pay until either I or the seller mark it as paid. I think sending an invoice straight away, unless it's a combined one for more than one item, is just an annoyance to the buyer.

I always send an invoice on the first time I log in after a sale if a buyer has not paid. I am always surprised at how many buyers seem to think they have to wait for that invoice before they can pay.

Thanks all - I think I will send them around teatime, as that will be the best part of 24hrs, hopefully then they wil pay tonight and I can post them when I am up at the PO in the morning

I guess it is trying to find that balance between not wanting to irritate people but also making sure you get your money
  • If I watch my items finish I send an invoice straight away, I never even thought I was doing wrong but I sell alot abroad and the shipping doesn't always change so I thought it was the right thing to do

    Same here.

I don't ever nag for payment, and I let buyers have the 4-day timescale to pay or ask for a cancellation, but then open a dispute. So far - cross-fingers - it's never got to that (though I used to open a number of disputes when the timescale was 8 days).
