Your biggest problem will be having the authority to deal with the issue. Just because you are a relative does not provide this right, and under te DPA you will fail their security questions. Only as Executor can you take this forward.
Even then, for the firms you are pursuing, you will have to rely on their goodwill - a bank indemnity will only cover he most recent transaction(s), it cannot reclaim any more than this as it expected the account holder is monitoring their transactions.
As the account holder is deceased, the first thing to do is cancel the services being billed for (as you can prove the death). You then use this as your opening to seek information on the debits taken. The bank account however will be frozen until probate is competed.0 -
I am sorry for the death but i have one criticism.
not even 24 hours after the death and your worrying about refunds from talktalk and aol etc and closing bank accounts, shouldn't you be more worried about the funeral and all that arrangement.
I disagree! Within a week of losing my husband I'd contacted all the banks, cancelled/amended d/ds and was manic with paperwork.

Im sorry to hear your sad news.
I too lost my fiancee 3 years ago so i know how important it is to get the finances sorted.
Anyone who thinks these things are not important have clearly never dealt with bereavement and are living in cloud cookoo land!!
Im not sure if you can definately get the repayments repaid back into the estate, but I would certainly try if I were you!
Please please please make sure that you take out a Grant of Probate also which will enable you to adminster her estate (whether she has a will or not, this is important!). Trust me im speaking from experience

Sorry, but this is wrong. The direct debit guarantee covers ANY payments that fall under it. I have dealt with claims for customers that have involved claiming back years of payments.0
