Erm, not according to my statements. I account all interest into my outgoings, it is no more then £1. If what you say is true, then I should have paid over £7 in interest. (I just checked my statement online, all the way back to December.) The times that I left some cash unpaid, I incurred a little under £1 in interest.

not enough information to make any judgement

As Clapton says above, we don't have enough information. But the T&Cs are quite clear, if you pay off the statement balance in full, then the interest isn't charged. If you don't, then interest is charged from the date of the transaction until it is paid (obviously you're not charged interest past when you pay off the balance. There have been quite a few threads on here where people have been surprised by this.

If, for some reason, the current implementation charged you less for this, I would still be careful, since they could start following the contract in the future.

think santander 123 give 3% cashback on fuel so on yr 6k a year you would get £180 back plus cashback in supermarkets, there is a £24 a year fee but would be the obvious card for your needs you would be looking at £200 cashback a year

The Petrol 3% is capped at £300 spend per month, so max cashback would be £9 per month, giving a maximum of £108 per year from petrol.

Not to much of a worry. £100 is still £100. Plus, if its possible to grab another decent cashback card on top of the 123, I can use that when I reach the cap.

What credit card do you have then? I quote from my Nationwide Select terms and conditions:

"Interest will not be charged on purchases if you pay the total balance shown on your statement each month including balance transfers by the due date. Interest is charged at the applicable rate on all transactions from the date they are applied to your account until you repay everything you owe."

This is a standard clause with credit cards - if yours doesn't do it then it's highly unusual.

What is the thinking behind that?
If you are expecting some loyalty out of that "favour" then forget it, banks don't work like that. Or is there another reason.

Why don't you get the Aqua 3% card.
You might not get a high credit limit but that doesn't mean it's not worthwhile.

I have just got the Aqua card. Well worth having but only if YOU NEVER USE IT TO OBTAIN CASH. YOU ALWAYS PAY THE FULL AMOUNT EACH MONTH ( BEST WAY IS BY DIRECT DEBIT ). AND YOU NEVER GO OVER YOUR LIMIT.
