Buying from Amazon.com using a UK debit card

I am planning to buy a laptop on Amazon.com (I will pick it up later from my American friend when I am in States) using my UK debit card from Barclays. Will they accept my card? If yes, will there be any fee I will need to additionally pay? How much more I will pay on average in comparison when someone would buy it using American debit card?
Anyone had any experience with such a case? How much more did you eventually pay in pounds?

I've bought from Amazon.com before with a UK card and it all went through fine. When I bought from them though they offered to pay in $USD or £GBP, but you need to work out which would be cheapest.

Why not pay with a credit card? Halifax Clarity, no exchange fees and no interest if you pay straight away plus another layer of protection if things go wrong.0

They might not deliver to an address which doesn't match the card address, most online retailers insist on delivery to the registered card address.0

Maybe in the UK, can't see them delivering to an address in the US if a UK card is being used.0 -

The OP isn't having the item delivered to himself, it's being delivered to his friend.0 -

The US delivery address could be a problem, but generally Amazon are not the strictest when it comes to these things. They don't use Verified by Visa or Mastercard Secure Code and they don't ask for the CVV every time. Basically, they're big enough to take the hit for the amount of fraud stricter measures might prevent.
I would suggest always choosing to be charged in $, whether your card charges a foreign transaction fee or has a loaded exchange rate or not. Store rates are usually worse than the banks' rates. This is everybody's fault but mine.0
