As many of you know, I have a 14 year old son who is disabled. Last night, he won a foot spa at the school fair. Well, to say he is delighted with it is an understatement! He likes putting his feet in water anyway, but he has found he enjoys the massage function.
Then I showed him how to turn on the bubbles.... he had a look of absolute bliss on his face. He was sat on a computer chair (so that I could lower it for him), wearing just his nappy and a very relaxed smile
I wouldn't have thought to buy him a foot spa, but he really likes it.
Just wanted to share

What a lovely image I see in my mind and a lovely memory for you.I'm not that way reclined
Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!0 -
A heart warming post indeed. It's so easy for us 'adults' to get bogged down with things that affect us in real life that we miss those moments when something so simple that most would not have even considered can mean so much to someone so young and just entering this road of crap we tread.0

Many years ago I was given a bath mat spa machine like these but a bit more cumbersome to see if it would help me. http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=babyliss+bath+spa&_sacat=0&_odkw=tub+bath+spa&adpos=1o2&MT_ID=10&crlp=15894347593_2113181&LH_BIN=1&tt_encode=raw&_osacat=0&geo_id=32251&clk_rvr_id=361912410505&keyword=tub+bath+spa
I used to add bubble bath in the water for the kids and turn it on - within a few minutes we had foam bubbles to the ceiling. They used to really really enjoy it so much and it was so good hearing the giggles as they had foamy fights in the bath! I could lie on my bed hearing them play which helped me incredibly and gave them a fun time.
If your son loves the foot one, one of these that are much less cumbersome and inexpensive may also be teraputic for him at bathtime http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Babyliss-Bath-Spa-Hydro-massage-BNIB-/170870687951?pt=UK_Health_Massage_RL&hash=item27c8afc8cf#ht_510wt_922
Don't add bubble bath though - or if you do, just a touch of it LOL . It's great fun!“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0 -
That's a good idea Anubis. He does enjoy a bath, although he usually showers as it is quicker. I'll definitely give it some thought. I'll bear in mind what you said about the bubbles as well
. aThank you.
Faerie-Spangles, I didn't mean to make anyone cry, but I'm glad they were happy tears, not sad ones.
Parva, I've had a difficult week and this was definitely the highlight! My lad was just as happy to win a small pack of Magic Stars (one of the few sweets he can eat) and to buy a pack of four second hand children's books at the fair. He has no idea of monetary value and is very innocent that way. He enjoys life, and despite his problems, he is a happy lad.
Thanks to everyone for your kind comments0 -
What a lovely post. Such a simple thing has put a smile on so many faces, thanks for sharing this.
Double what Anubis says about the bath spa. The bubbles go a loooooooooong way if you use one :rotfl:4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
Our disabled son had a massaging foot spa and also loved it.
I used to sit on the floor with him on my knee and put his feet in it,also helped with his bad circulation(his feet are always freezing).0
