Sun Holidays - Duinrell, Holland

I have recently got back from a 7 night holiday at Duinrell in Wassenaar, Holland. It was the first time I had been abroad with the Sun holidays and me and OH had a brilliant time.

I had been to Holland before (over 30 years ago) but OH hadn't. We both loved the area around the park. Wassenaar is a pretty place with some nice restaurants and shops and is only a couple of minutes walk from the site.

Leiden (where I stayed when I was in Holland before) is beautiful. Cobbled street, bridges and canals. Full of bars, cafes, restaurants and shops. We went into Leiden 4 days out of our 7 in Holland because we both loved it so much. We didn't even get to go to any of the museums or art galleries there although we intended to because the weather was so good we were happy to stroll around looking at all the bridges and admiring the lovely houses with all their colourful plants in their windows and in pots outside their front doors. We also went on a boat trip and spent quite a few hours sitting outside bars/cafes drinking coffee or beer.

Leiden is only a few miles away so we hardly did any driving whilst there. We had intended going to so many places (where I had been before) - Haarlem, Utrecht, The Hague, Delft, Rotterdam but just ran out of time.

We are definitely going back next year, probably for 2 weeks.

We were also impressed with the site. We had a lovely large mobile home that looked practically new. It was absolutely spotless and well equipped. Also had a large deck outside with table, chairs, parasol, loungers, barbeque. We used the supermarket on site which was large and the prices not bad but did not use the restaurants or the amusements.

We got the ferry from Dover to Dunkirk which only cost £70 and stayed in Belgium for 3 days first. The journey from Dunkirk into Belgium is less than an hour and the coast of Belgium is lovely with gorgeous beaches which stretch for miles.

It's suprising that more people don't holiday in Belgium and/or Holland as they are both lovely countries, the people are very friendly and speak very good english and, judging from my experience, the weather is better. We had 11 days of sun and one night of rain and one heavy but very quick shower of rain one morning whereas in England in rained every day we were away.

Also at the moment with the exchange rate with the Euro being better we did not find things expensive there. In fact lots of things were cheaper - wine, plants, some clothes. We also found it cheaper to eat out
The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie
