The score is not the important thing to focus on.

Are you employed? What is your income?
Do you have any existing debts? how much do you owe? what are your total credit limits?
Do you have an overdraft? do you use it every month? do you get out of it every month?
    Who do you bank with?
Are you on the electoral roll?
Are you financially associated with anyone?

How many credit applications have you made in the last few month?
What cards have you appliedfor and been declined for recently?

The scores mean nothing i'm afraid. This is the first thing you need to realize.

Do you pay off balances on your cards in full every month, or do you carry a balance?

Current debt to income ratio - is this high?

Where does your salary get paid into?
This bank would be my first port of call.

If they have declined you - then stop all new applications for the next 6 months. The more applications you make in a short period of time the more desperate you look to a potential lender.
