I wouldnt deal with the other party paying for your repairs privately,
there is no need to be nice to him. His premiums will go up, not your fault.
He may think he will get off lightly but now that you have reported it to your insurance he MUST inform his insurance company because his details will be on the national data base, and if he doesnt inform them, when he makes a claim, because of this non disclosure and his policy will be voided, makeing it almost impossible to get any kind of insurance.
He can pay you for your repairs privately, but he must, must inform his insurance company.

Lets face it, you havent done anything wrong, stop being so nice.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

I really wouldnt worry about it, if he starts being arsey about it, just put it in the hands of your own insurance company, that what you pay them hundreds of pounds a year for.

Good luck to you. I know how frustrating it can be when you havent done anything wrong.

Car at garage for quick quote now. I am really worried he will change his tune and say we hit each other- I have a £350 excess on my policy I don't want to be stung for...

Inform your insurance whatever route you go down:

A while ago i was in a car park and a woman was doing a 3 point turn and pretty much drove into the back of my car whilst doing her maneuver (cracked and scuffed my bumper) - we switched details and went off on our way, the damage to my car was minimal i fixed it my self and was pleased with the job (avoiding my rather large excess).

Fast forward to yesterday - where my current insurer phones me up to tell me a claim as gone through against me and that she won the claim, my insurance company paid out £2300 - i wasn't made aware there was a claim being made against me? i wasn't aware that they put ME at fault - and the insures never asked me what happened?

so i guess um wut.... where do i stand?

I didn't say he has admitted liability-in fact,he didn't say much at all....seemed a little dazed by it. I told him I had managed to stop and was stationary, and as he had hit me, as far as I was concerned it was his fault. He didn't dispute this, just mumbled something about a blind bend and the track not being maintained properly. Then opened his bonnet and started delving round underneath, while I stood like a lemon and suggested we exchange details.

Edited to say estimate for repair?? £1300..
