That could be your problem..... vendors not there to sort things out.

I know they are in contact with Mrs Vendor, and funninly enough it wasn't a problem for them to get hold of Mr Vendor to arrange viewings / discuss offers.

Because we don't have contact numbers for them.

So try the phone book, or demand it from the estate agent. Where does the vendor work ? Try calling him there if all else fails.

If there is silence from the other end, then it is up to you to force the issue.

You don't need to be unpleasent, just firm. If the vendor still wants to sell to you, then they'll put your mind at rest.

I've bought and sold at least a dozen times over the years, and have had to deal directly with vendors on two seperate occassions - once when the EA was telling him lies, and once when there was pistols at dawn between stubborn solicitors.

Don't shy away from the issue, if you want the sale to go through

Thanks, I wasn't aware I was shying away from it. The EA doesn't want to give us their number (yes, we've tried) and they're not in the phone book. I don't know where he works - I'm not sure why I should to be honest?

Try something like 192.com - this oftens lists ex-directory numbers. The EA should have advised you of their name and address at least, to search on.
