Just phone up the companies concerned, and give them the details of your Halifax account.

If I'm reading your OP right it sounds like you are wanting to transfer direct debits from a joint account to a sole one. This isn't possible and you will need to manually contact all the affected companies with your new details

If I look at my online banking there are reference numbers in the direct debits section, would these be the numbers that are required by Halifax?

This is what you need to do, remember it is the companies who take money from your account so you need to tell them your new bank details, and to stop charging your old one.

Won't get the £100 switching bonus by doing it yourself though.
