inline ad media links on posts

Appears that MSE is allowing your posts to include links to outside commercial interests without your permission. For example, I have seen the word shopping being linked to an advert, even though the person was recommending shopping around. Type in the word Insurance and it sometimes links to a company.

Hope this is a temporary infestation by SPAM and not MSE selling the content of posts for commercial advantage. I am sure that many on MSE would not post, if their time and effort was being used by MSE for commercial purposes.

I don't mind links to CAB, BIBA, FOS etc, but I don't want my posted words being used for profit purposes.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

    A) MSE has always been a commercial proposition and many of the links in its articles, blogs and recommendations are affiliate links earning them commission

    B) MSE was just sold for £87m to MoneySupermarket and so it wouldnt be surprising if they decided they wanted to increase the revenues the site generates in return for their purchase price

If anyone is scratching their heads that they cannot see links, I think I have found the answer. Appears that some browsers add these links to key words. Today Firefox has added this, on an update, that I have not been made aware of. On Chrome I cannot see the links.

If anyone has this issue on Firefox, it may be an add-on called complitly. I must have somehow downloaded it and it has started working today.

Anyway to get rid of it, in Firefox, go to tools, add-ons, extensions and then disable or remove complitly
