signed up to credit expert to check my credit rating.
there were 4 credit agreements held,
two with natwest and two with SHOP DIRECT FINANCE COMPANY LTD.
the SHOP DIRECT FINANCE COMPANY LTD showed my DOB as two years older stating im 20.
i think when i was 16 or 17 i might have applied for a account with very.co.uk thinking you have to be 18 to buy anything and didnt know about the credit.
yesterday i tried to open a credit account with burton and was declined because of my age,
i thinking this was because there are two date of births on my credit report. 18 and 20.
what can i do to sort this out.

So you probably lied about your age when you applied with very when you were 16!! Best get in touch with Experian and start explaining!0

ok, i wasnt intentional though. hope it gets solved
Of course it was intentional.

You know fine well that you committed fraud, to be blunt about it and now it is potentially biting you on the backside.0 -

obvisouly its causing my problems but it wasnt like knew that they were going to give me credit and i was going to spend that and not pay it back
I only found out it was from very by googling their parent company which showed up on my credit report. i didnt even knew very gave out credit0 -
The point is at some point when you filled out an application you lied about your age. Of course this was intentional otherwise you would not have lied. I understand that being young and naive probably meant future repercussions were not even considered but now you need to face up to it and get it sorted.0

iv emailed both creditexpert and the company. seeing what happens0 -
You must have put an incorrect date of birth down - and chosen to say you were 18 for a reason.
Had you read all the terms & conditions when you made your purchase it would have explained that you were giving the permission to perform a search with the credit reference agencies and for them to report your account with them to the credit reference agencies.
The account with the incorrect date of birth - does this show as open or closed? does it show an outstanding balance?
I doubt you will be able to do anything about it other than to wait for it to drop off your credit file (6years from the date it is closed or the date you defaulted). At that point when there is nothing with that DOB on your file you might find it easier to get credit.
Although you might still struggle as its possible that the national hunter database might still flag up inconsistent data, even after the 6years.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Even if they do correct the dob, I wonder if there is a chance that Experian might add some sort of fraud flag to the OPs file? After all a fraudulent application was made and I can't see them completely turning a blind eye to it as it could indicate future risk.0
