Do refunds reduce the balance to pay on a statement?

I thought yes - but not sure if they have - say - different categories of transactions. If the end balance was £100 - they would want to see a payment of £100 as opposed to a payment of £50 and a refund of £50.
I don't want to pay interest if I can help it.....
That said, a refund of £50 and payment of £50 reduces the initial £100 balance to zero, so you'd be clearing the balance and there would be no interest charges

Perhaps thats what I'm thinking of then (which is also what I think the OP was getting at) as I always pay mine off in full but take into account any refunds before paying the remaining balance.
Spot on, if the balance is cleared in full, then they don't care where the credited money comes from!

I've asked them before and they never seem sure!0
