Hiya
I'm trying to come up with an idea of a small gift to buy for someone who has just got the job of their dreams - the job is working with animals outdoors but I can't think of a useful gift I could get iyswim? Please help!

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Perhaps something he could use on the job? A thermal flask, some wellies, scarf/gloves, etc.
Also if you post on the Special Occasions Board as well they tend to be good with gift ideas

I was going to suggest a hat and a travel mug to keep his coffee warm. I like the wellies idea as well though.0

Small as in size, or cost?
I would suggest either a leatherman (expensive) or different hats are always well received. Summer or winter etc.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
Hi - small in cost. He already has v expensive wellies lol, and a huge assortment of hats, gloves etc - that's part of the problem - he has everything he needs really

A nother fleece, or some silk thermal socks or glove liners.
I work outside with animals, there is no such thing in winter as too many socks, fleeces, appropriate gloves for different jobs, or ways to make layering more effective.
Expensive wellies might benefit from a suitable welly bag for the boot of the car.0 -
Would an inexpensive cagoule be any use? It might be better for him to wear than an expensive waterproof and could be wiped down easily if it came into contact with any...... errmmmm........ animal matter

Or a washable rug for the car, so that he can sit on it when driving home.
A bag to keep his bits and bobs in.
Some waterproof overpants - those elasticated things that will protect his own clothes.0 -
merino wool clothing is excellent for people that work outdoors.0

Tights are very useful for winter cold, I used to wear them on building sites when the wind went right through you. He'd probably never buy them for himself.
Stockings if he's a bit kinky :rotfl:
Other than that, it doesn't have to be anything useful. A handmade card is always appreciated here. And handmade food

I ended up getting a toy figure of the animal he is going to be working with, and a little cross stitch kit to make a card. Thank you for all your ideas
