Why won't Paypal let me update ANYTHING?

I was just looking around my Paypal account and noticed that I apparently have 29 different shipping addresses! They're mainly all my address but worded slightly differently (e.g. Rd, Road) or my name is slightly different (e.g. T Manc, Thrifty Manc and so on). A couple are from years ago when I had things sent to family (I swear I'd already deleted these in the past as soon as they were done with so I don't know why they've reappeared), a couple are even addresses of shops where I've ordered something online to collect instore. I haven't manually added them to my account, it seems to have done it automatically when I've used Paypal to pay for anything in the past few years (doesn't go back as far as my previous address thankfully!). I want to delete them all and just leave the right one but there seems to be nowhere to do this - am I being blind? It used to be really easy but now the site's changed I only seem to be able to amend the main address, which is already correct, or view the full list of addresses without editing it.


Updated on 7th August: this is still happening despite contacting Paypal - they send me copied and pasted emails with the old, now incorrect, instructions in. And MORE postal addresses have appeared in my account including my old address, why?! Really useful!

And more annoyingly, I now can't update my credit card number. My old card expired and I got a new card with a new number. I tried to add it to my account, Paypal say my credit card provider are refusing it (not even to pay with - just to add it to my account!) - of course when I phone up my credit card provider, this is complete nonsense and they haven't got a clue what I'm talking about and the problem is with Paypal. Paypal won't even let me delete my old card because it says there's transactions pending on it. Unlikely when it expired a month ago and I've been paying purely out of Paypal balance for months!

Just checked and it is the same for me. I have 12 addresses, mostly very similar and it would be nice to have that down to 2 or 3 real ones. The 'help' page is of no use whatsoever and gives no assistance other than changing primary address.

I have the same problem, and a quick google showed that there is no way for the user to edit or delete these addresses.

The only way to have them removed is to contact Paypal and ask them to do it on your behalf. This is the advice given on the Paypal community forums by the Paypal team themselves.
