Adding an ex to your bank account doesn't sound too safe to me. I would open up another account in joint names, process the cheque and leave the account there in case I needed it again if that was likely.0 -
The bank wont care about you living at separate addresses, or really what the relationship between you is. You will each become 100% liable for whatever happens to that account so if he goes off and runs up a £5,000 overdraft taking his new girlfriend off to vegas the bank can pursue you for all of it.
Secondly your financial records will continue to be linked so any bad credit history either of you may have or get would impact each other.
Weather you add him to your account, you to him or open a new account with you both named it doesn't sound a great idea with an ex. Accounts are easy to create but difficult to close!
As to credit checks, that will be down to Lloyds own procedure. Certainly Natwest and Barclays don't when both parties are already current account holders.0 -
Would it be possible to get the drawer to reissue as two cheques?
If not then why not open a savings account in joint names? No credit reference checks and no danger of an overdraft in joint names.0 -
open a saving a/c so you are not linked financially to your ex0
