Carbon Monoxide Alarm went off

As the title states, our Carbon Monoxide Alarm went off last night. Just the once but that was enough to frighten us.
Call out the Gas company who sent an engineer out who was with us within the hour. He couldn't find anything wrong, tested the boiler with this meter and also tested the gas supply at the meter and all was fine.
He had to deactivate the boiler as it is procedure.
The bolier is about 15 years old but it is regularly serviced every year and was last done in March. We are getting the guy out again today to check the boiler and activate it again.
Could the alarm be faulty?
Could anything else have caused it - the grill was on and something on the baking tray was burning but this wouldn't cause Carbon Monoxide would it?

Was the boiler on when the alarm went of, or had it very recently been on? If not then unlikely to be a boiler issue IMO.
Could be faulty but would have thought it would continue to activate.
MIL had one that activated when boiler wasn't on. It continued activating when taken outside for a protracted period. Boiler wasn't found to be faulty subsequently.
Having watched a "rip off" TV series it suggested that the sale of CO alarms was often used as a bonus sale by the gas fitters. MIL had hers free from BG though."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Could be. To produce carbon monoxide the gas does not burn properly possibly with insufficient oxygen. If there is smoke around then some carbon monoxide could be produced.Could anything else have caused it - the grill was on and something on the baking tray was burning but this wouldn't cause Carbon Monoxide would it?:footie:

Hi: what alarm do you have? What is the expiration date? Batteries? Make and model of boiler? Other gas appliances in the house i.e. hob, cooker, fire?
£15 will get you a replacement. Advice from Gas Safe Register here.

We have a Kiddie alarm (sponsored by e-on) and it is less than a year old. Batteries are the originals, but it has never beeped before.
Only gas appliance is the boiler.0 -
Well we had the boiler man out yesterday and he gave the boiler a thorough going over and couldn't find any problems. He used his own meter to check it.
I have reinstalled our monitor and hopefully that will be it.
I think I will have to put it down to something on the grill pan burning that caused the alarm!0
