lookinforabargain wrote: »My first piece would be avoid the T's tents! Sorry Perranlady, but they just aren't worth the money no matter how cheap and would probably put you off camping for life!
If you are a family of 5, I would recommend at least a 7 berth tent, if you look at the sleeping spaces on the pictures of tents, they aren't very wide and usually based on a sleeping mat, not an airbed or the like so are quite small. And if you don't want to be on top of each other it's always a good idea to go a bit larger.
If you have no tent putting up skills, I would think a tunnel tent would be your best bet, they are really easy to put up. That's what we have now and it's so much easier than our last one to put up. Ours is up and fully pegged out in 30-40 minutes. They tend to have rooms at either end and living space in the middle or all the sleeping area at the back with the living space in front.
Also make sure you check the HH (Hydrostatic Head) that shows how waterproof it is. 1500mm is the bare minimum, but if you plan on camping in the UK where there is always a chance of rain I wouldn't recommend one with this rating. We have always gone for 3000mm and have never had any problems with leaking or anything like that.
This is the tent we are currently using http://www.outdoorworlddirect.co.uk/vango-breakout-800-dlx-tent-smoke-ocean-premium-tent.html
for myself, OH, 2 teenage boys and a 2 year old! Does us great, as the boys have seperate bedrooms and the room at the other end is big enough for our big airbed and DD's travel cot.
Ok, I'm going to stop now! Hope that helps a little bit!RootedNomad wrote: »hi cousinjack. How much are you hoping to spend? - with tents, the decent ones are rarely discounted hugely. I would be a little wary of the T own brand ones - will you be using it in the UK? It needs to withstand a decent amount of the wet stuff and be stable. There is a 6 man tent on there for under £40 which may OK for a short term fair weather tent.
If you need something for a proper holiday, I would invest and spend a bit more. It is horrible trying to spend any time in a leaky tent in wet weather - very stressful and uncomfortable. I am a Vango fan, but have had good Coleman tents too - totally depends what you need from it. Outwell is probably the family tent of choice (Montana), but more expensive and only worth the cost if you inend to use it a lot.
If you have time, I strongly recommend signing up to the forum on this site - great people, very knowledgeable. If you were to post a brief summary of what you are looking for, how much you can spend etc on the tent board, I am sure you will get some helpful responses.

Massive thankyou to everyone for the brilliant advice.off to do my research now and hopefully my little people will be able to holiday in the dry:):TWhatever tent you get, read the instructions and follow to the letter as your life will be SO much easier!

Finally found some mags, bought 7 lagers, went through SS, till would only take 1 coupon, SA came over, tried and failed to scan coupon, so just put the lot through (£9) on a manual input. BM £10 :j
Went to 2nd store, 7 lagers through manned till, message came up on her till to only accept 1 coupon per transaction. I mentioned coupon says 1 per product, she agreed, got her Manager to check, he said that they had received an email telling them to only accept 1 per transaction, no bulk buying.
Left beers with them.
Your the 2nd person to have this happen to them today0 -

Sometimes I don`t even know which one I am in :rotfl:
True, I keep looking at thing's in T's that I'm supposed to be getting in A's and vice versa. It can be very confusing at times:rotfl:0 -

Thank you Purdita, this is very goo for me!
Im guessing the Oj is over, can I please ask, when you say assorted muller corners, do all 10 have to be different? Im not sure Ive seen 10 different corners!
The OJ is still glitching, but that needs to compare against T's so has to be part of a seperate shop to the Mullers and ICBINB (and now McCains wedges??) as these are on offer in Morrisons.
I bought 7 different corners in a small A's which obviously helped towards my 8 different COMPARABLE items.
You need to get the corners for the glitch so if they only have a few flavours you'll have to double up and buy a few cheap items, (carrot, banana, onion etc ) to make the numbers up.
I did three seperate transactions this morning ( much to the delight of the SA
)
1) Asda V's Tesco......10 Don Simon, Sharwoods wraps, carnation condensed milk, and a few cheap comparable items
2) Asda V's Morries.....10 Assorted Mullers (now know they have to be corners), ICBINB and a couple of cheap items
3) Cheap Asda items......£1 cereal and cheap shampoos and multipacks of soapsMy husband says he will leave me if I don't stop shopping......... God I will miss that man.0 -

It reminds me of that buzz of spotting 1p items on a clipstrip and then remembering you are in A or S .....0 -

I agree but I am not complaining. I am working on the following theory for both T and A:
No minimum spend
Buy the glitching item
Then buy another nine Value items e.g. tinned tomatoes, custard (packet or tin), noodles, biscuits and throw in a few single fruit/vegetables but not fresh tomatoes!
S - I rarely go there because it's too far away
M - always buy fresh meat from there so just have a little wander when I am in there.0
