Afternoon all
Had a fab weekend making jam for the first timeDunelm Mill have Kilner Jars at reasonable prices along with other bits & pieces (not very MSE I know but I do like Kilner stuff). We were going to go strawberry picking but as the weather wasn't very good, I decided to just go to T's and get some straws. They were only 99p for 400g (value ones) and they are the nicest straws I have had this year. Tempted to go & get more now.
Does anyone have any experience in jam making? It hasn't set terribly well - I used liquid pectin because I read that strawberries have almost no pectin in but it still didn't set too well. Can you over boil jam or should I just leave it for longer to boil?
Also, I wondered if points could be added to your clubcard at an Express or whether it was just bigger stores that do it?
Been sitting on my hands not going to A's as we don't really drink OJ in this house but it's so tempting when it's such a good offer lol
Hope everyone's wellBooking cancelled
Actually glad because was supposed to do M4 run, which is closed because of a crack in the bridge that needs " plating" what ever that is, typical leave it until last moment before OG.life is like a loo roll. the nearer the end you get, the faster it goes.0 -

Oh no then I have been t0scoed cos the signs and everything were still up saying 500 points that is why I got it. When they didn't add I went to cs straight away and he told me would add in a couple of weeks!!! Should I wait couple of weeks then query again? Or cut my losses and forget about the points?0 -

I just got this back on a womble. The doughnuts were whoopsied in t's
1 x 5 PACK JAM DOUGHNUTS (0.246 kg) £ 0.16 £ 0.16
This is exactly what I meant in my post. I think, and I am not confirming it until I'm sure, that Tesco compare a single bread roll, doughnut, cake etc with the 5 packs, so at full price, a good JTD.I am firmly across the line. I won't impose my values on you if you keep away from mine.

Pop the jam back in the pan and boil up for a few more minutes. Take a spoonful onto a cold saucer/plate and leave it to cool for a min or so. If it has set when you poke it with your finger it's fine. If not do you have some lemon juice in the fridge or a lemon? Jif lemon type stuff should do (contains pectin). Add a few squirts of that and boil for 5 mins and test again.
It's only a game

Thank you - will keep an eye out. Did have a quick scout but couldn't see them in ours. The store has had a "makeover" recently (read that as more baby & health & beauty etc stuff and room taken away from food ) and it boggles me each time I go in now - everything has moved aroundOf course jars etc aren't with the kitchen stuff - that would just be far too easy :rotfl:
